Hello

This is my first post so I hope I am not breaking any forum rules.

I am seeking help in coming to terms with the excessive pain and discomfort that I continue to experience and which is causing me great unhappiness.

I do not wish to air my problems in public and am asking members of a similar age and who are also post-op and feel they have had significant difficulties, if they are prepared to discuss in private, by email or what ever, their experience during and after their SRS.

My SRS was done at a private hospital and I was 69.1/2 years of age. I had been through the NHS 2 years experience and it was following the demise of my brother that I felt I could not wait until the NHS got it's house in order and I needed to have the surgery to live the remainder of my life as the person I needed to be.

A big warm welcome Sarah! I would contact the surgical team that did the surgery or your gyno for any help on this. It is very hard to give information without knowing what is wrong. There are a lot of post op stories here that may help in the mean time.

First off welcome to Susan's. I am not quite your age but the snow on the roof says i am in a senior class.

Age i feel can be the double edge sword it will either help you or hinder you.

3 1/2 months is real early in your healing process. Mine was around the 9 month mark that things where getting better. At a year i feel most are 90% healed and should start to enjoy being female.

Mind. The more your mind spends fixed on the surgery and healing the more it seems to cause stress. Try and find ways to get your mind off all that is happening. I know its hard but it does work somewhat.

Time does heal all wounds and this is truly a lot of time invested to get to the end.

Relay, enjoy life and go shopping.

I was told people could return to work in 3 weeks - honestly, at close to 3 wks post-op... it is not true... I feel like there is still significant way to a normal recovery so I do feel the same way as you do if anything.

I personally don't think I will be back to anything resembling normal for 6-8 months myself.

On the one hand they help me understand I still have a long way to go in my recovery. On the other, it is difficult when I sit here with a really uncomfortable clitoris to understand I won't have this for ever.
