I've just begun my journey to transition to male by visiting Callen-Lorde Community Health Center in NYC.
As of now, my preferred name is Benjamin but I don't mind being called Ben for a nickname.
Not much to be told about me, I'm currently unemployed and I want to get into webdeveloping.

So far, my mother, father and older brother know about me being transgender but my brother is the only one that's 100% on board with the whole situation. It could have been worse, I could have been thrown out like the few people I've read about when they've come out the closet. I'm guessing they think that I'm not really that serious but they will soon change their minds about that. While I do have some aspects that are similar to other stories I've read on those that wanted to transition, I feel like I've haven't exactly reached the "do or die" point. That being said, I'm not going to wait until I've reached my boiling point and do something rash like kill myself if I torture myself being a girl for one more day than I have to. I have to accept myself and try to correct it ASAP and I don't mind waiting a few months to finally get on hormones to do that.

Right now, I'm on the fence of whether or not to keep an online journal to keep records of my transition.

A big warm welcome to the family Benjamin!! You are by no means alone in your journey and we will be here for support whenever you need it. We have a great bunch of FtMs here and I know you will like them a lot. I hope you enjoy your time with us and get a lot out of it. Relax and dig right in!  :)

As for an online journal that I up to you, but remember anything there is public domain and you may not want everyone to know specifics. Just use caution.

Hi Ben,

Welcome to the family. An online journal can be very interesting and insightful, especially for those that haven't yet started transition. Jess, of course, is right though, once it's out there, you can't take it back.

My family isn't 100% on board. They're trying though. I think not rejecting you is a good sign, the rest will come in time.

I'm glad you didn't wait until you thought hurting yourself would be a viable option. That's never a good path.

Come on in and make yourself at home. This is a good, safe place. :D

I'd rather see the world from another angle
We are everyday angels
Be careful with me 'cause I'd like to stay that way

Thanks for the warm welcome. I won't be really talking super specific things but it's something to document and look back on.

My family still isn't 100% on board. My mother's birthday was today and she still acknowledges me by birth name and female pronouns.

It's a pleasure to welcome you to Susan's, Ben. I wish you good luck in your transition and hope that you can find yourself right at home here, because everyone here is very, very supportive and friendly. Many of us can relate in our experiences, and I can say that if I came out to my family, they would be about.. -20% on board with it. I don't have the best luck in a semi-conservative, religious household but oh well, there's always a few years up ahead on the road to look forward to.. maybe when I'm self-sufficient and living alone, I will be able to fully pursue my transition. Anyways, again, welcome to the forum!

I'm sorry to hear that and I hope they'll come around eventually. :(
In any case, I opened up a blog on Tumblr if anyone is interested in reading it.
I'm starting from the ground up so it should be fun to read about my FTM transition in the present.
