This article talks a bit about Pope Francis, who is suppose to be the supreme, human, voice in the Church.

The majority of my family (immigrants as well as folks born and raised here throughout several generations) identifies as Catholic. They vary from very strict and traditional (go every week to mass and have a worn our rosary), to what I call NPCs (non-practicing catholics). I can only speak from my experiences as a first generation Mexican in Chicago, Catholicism is alive and kicking strong. To what degree people are following, well, it varies.
La conciencia es, a la vez, testigo fiscal y juez.

Consciousness is, at the same time, witness, prosecutor, and judge.
