Why did you make such a foolish poll? please do something constructive with your life!

Eris

I enjoy having longer hair and I was wondering how other MTF's felt about it.

Here's a guide to what the options equate to for the purposes of this poll.

I refuse to live in fear! Come hell or high water I will not back down! I will live my life!
But you have no life.
Ha. Even that won't stop me.

I will protect even those I hate, so long as it is right.

It used to be to right about to my waist, I wouldn't mind it back there again. Right now it just feels too short, but I had to cut lots off when I went blonde because that hair bleaching stuff was way too hard on my hair.

I have had my hair long my entire adult life, I don't know what I would do with short hair lol.

I always liked having long hair even from a very young age. The way I used to wear my hair actually made people gender me pretty consistently as female when I was little. That is, until my mom insisted on cutting it. :'( Right now my hair is a bit past collar length, which I think is where I'd like to keep it. Having long hair is nice, but at a certain point it starts to become a chore to take care of it properly, and I think trying to keep it much longer might be more trouble than it's worth. My biggest issue right now though, is that my hair lost a lot of volume due to shedding when I started to take biotin, and now I'm going to have to wait something like a year for it to really thicken up again...

Mine was near waist length when I cut it short (moment of silence, it was a dark day)....  but it's so curly when it dried it ended up somewhere around bra strap length which is about where I want it again...  Pretty much the same as my avatar photo but curly!  :)

Waist length, but that may just be dreaming. I have never had it below armpit length and that took three years to get to. Waves, then big loopy curls take over and I am stuck in limbo forever, like now. :) Bad hair day turns into bad hair week, turns into bad hair year.

I can definately identify with you. I would love it to be waist length it is between armpit and brastrap length now when dry. But it takes curly hair so long to get length to it.

Oh what a familiar feeling to have cut and lost ;)  I hated haircuts as a kid (way before the Beatles made it cool).  I kept my hair very long after getting out of the army except one dismal last time when trying to look like that man again.  Long hair feels like a luxury to me.  Some fortunately beautiful women retain their feminine presentation with any length of hair, i gotta work it :D

I'm quite content with my hair length.  When I was 8 I wanted to start growing my hair but was afraid people would guess how I felt about my given gender.  It took me until I was 12 to work up the courage and have had long hair since.  I haven't cut my hair now in 7 years and have dreadlocks to my waist ^_^. They're hot and heavy and actually a physical pain when they get wet but I don't see myself cutting or trimming them anytime soon

I definately had to laugh at that one about the army. God it would have felt better if they wouold have cut off my arm when I went in. And then the four years following sucked. I was always getting told when I needed a haircut. :) Now people tell me that I usually start the sentence out with a word that starts with "F" and ends with "u". Even female family members. I personally think they are just jealous though 'cause they all have short hair. ??? I have the longest hair out of all the girls in my family. On second thought, maybe I ain't the only trans member of my family. Hmmm.. food for thought on that one.

Although I'm quite fine with my current hair length the target is somewhere between shoulder and bra-strap length. That will be just optimal for the hairstyle I have in mind :-) .

I actually had to have an aggressive haircut almost exactly one year ago for a detailed EEG and no haircut since. Before that I never really had long hair.

It's growing quite quickly so I think that perhaps in spring next year I'll be on my preferred length.

I love, love love my hair!  (Did I mention that I love my hair?)

Yes it's labor intensive.  Yep, it's time consuming.  Yes it's uncomfortable and even painful at times, depending on how I have it styled on any given day.  But I do not intend to cut my hair anytime soon.

It might be a little difficult to see in my avatar photo, but I keep my hair tailbone length.  I like bright, unnatural streaks of color in my hair.  Right now I have a lot of hot pink, raspberry, and emerald green in my hair.  At other times I've had primary red, cobalt blue, bubblegum pink, and royal purple.  Everywhere I go random strangers approach me to tell me how much they love my hair.  I love it too!

It's all in good fun.

Longest I've ever had was armpit length (from the chart)  and it was in bad shape. This was about a month ago and now its just above shoulder length. I would love what I call butt/ass length, but I have to wonder if that would ever happen.

I would like to have longer hair. After 2 years i have neck length. How long it will take for armpit-length? Another 2 years? What do you think?
  •

Eris

Hair is supposed to grow an average of about 6 inches a year, fortunately my hair seems to grow slightly faster, I've got from less than an inch to neck length in 8 months :)

Hair grows roughly at about 1/2 inch a month give or take. So six inches takes about a year. From the very top or your head to your shoulders would take about 1 3/4 years. Thing is though and the most important thing is to definately take care of it. I do not skimp on haircare products but not all priced haircare products are created equal though. So don't fall for the "if it's more expensive it must be better trap." Definately a good shampoo and conditioner is a must, definately the conditioner. Split ends suck and the only cure is cutting. Argon oil is good for the hair, a healthy diet is good too to prevent split ends. Wash warm and condition and rinse out the conditioner in cool water. Styling with heat is also a killer. If it is curly let it be curly, if it's straight let it be straight. No use fighting nature.

Don't fall for the trap of cutting it makes it grow faster or cutting it during a full moon will make it grow faster. I know old hillbilly's wives tell but if anyone calls me Granny Moses I'll hunt you down and put a hex on ya'. ;) It will grow at the rate it grows and that is give or take 1/2 inch per month. Just cut it to even it up or make it look good without taking any length from it.

This post needs alannaluvsu, I hope I spelled that right but she is definately the go to girl for hair.

You and me alike. I Loooooov my hair. If I lost my hair, I would cry. I would baWL like a little child who fell off their bike and their ice cream cone falling on the floor. Then I would become a bitter hateful shrew. That's just one of the reasons why I'm transitioning knowing I would lose the hereditary battle for hair loss otherwise. Nope. I'm saving it just in time.

I plan to probably go with highlights in my dark shiny brown hair with some emphasis around my face which should really add a feminizing touch. All these last minute details I'm stacking on top so when I decide to tip over out of andro territory and into fem full time, it will tip over mightily. Long hair, maaybe soft curls towards the ends, highlights, laser, eyebrows, nail polish, lipstick, eyeshadow, clothes, jewely and the accessories. This Evelyn sh*t will be real then, yo!

As for the poll, I want something bra strap length.
