I was sitting on the bus, obviously sweating since it's so hot out. I kept sitting beside these guys and thinking "my GOD they stink, I get that it's hot and I probably smell like sweat but these guys actually smell like a rank butt hole. Deodorant time???"

This happened the whole way home, these bad smelling guys kept sitting by me. Well, I just got back in my room, and I still smell it...it's Me. And I put on deodorant multiple times a day, always shower twice daily. I definitely will be less judgmental of guys that smell bad in the future. I knew I'd pick up the offensive "man smell" but it has never been as noticeable as it has been today.

There is a difference between rank butt and man smell. Man smell is almost spicy, like an assault on your nasal passages. Rank butt is a lofty, poopy rotten smell.

I think anyone can suffer from rank butt regardless of gender, it could just be some unknown habit that is causing it. Could even be what you eat?

I would try to find the culprit area. Could be socks, underwear, shoes, breath, soap residue, or even the inside lining of your nose?

Either way perhaps it is from showering too often? Or maybe try a different soap

It's no fun to know that you smell bad, I hope you find the solution!

It's hard to say what the cause was. But it was definitely Rank Butt. I have never met a girl that smelled that bad, but plenty of guys. I have never noticed any offensive body odor before on myself because I know I'm a sweaty guy, and I put on deodorant more than once a day. I just showered and washed all my crevices very thoroughly lol. I have a feeling it might have been a combo of my socks and my butt. =/

Hopefully this is a one time deal!

If it's only happening on the way home from work. It could also just be a combination of smells. Man smell +deodorant +working +other people + their deodorant + where you are. Slowly roasted in a summers day = Oh dear Cthlulu get me to a shower now.
Don't worry we all still love you, no matter how you smell

That was my whole first year living in a humid, hot place. I totally feel you. I took to using sea breeze body wash and liquid talcum but I don't think I've ever seen either for sale outside of Japan. I also have these awesome gatsby body wipes that make me smell like cherry blossom. I noticed I had to totally change my soaps and I started always carrying an extra shirt or three depending on the day.

Yeah the only time I smelled like that was when I was up in Queensland during the extremely hot summer when I was soaked in the rain and humidity.

I sure hope to avoid that smell, words can't describe how awful it is in a crowded train.

I remember that when I was running on T I would take a bath use  deodorant etc and then after 5-6 hours my armpits would start smelling really bad

now I can go without a bath for days and I never smell that bad I just dont smell fresh

and thats why I never blame guys who smell...though  there  are ways...bath 2 times a day, or use deodorant a lot of times a day etc etc

I notice picking up the scent of women more. ??? That clean skin smell. (similar to freshly ironed clothes)

Personal body odor is no longer a problem for me also. Huge plus.

Oh God yes. All of this. I carry powder too but sometimes I'm too wet to use it. I carry extra shirts and even sometimes extra underwear. Today I even switched out and went commando in the university bathroom.

i don't have this problem but i know plenty of guys who do. my cousin alone showers every day and wears deodorant but he still smells so bad sometimes. my mom knows a guy who was in the military who uses womens deodorant because it works better for sweat and smell and i'm sure most of us can relate to that. i found womens deodorant does last longer and have a stronger smell then some of mens deodorant (especially those gel stick ones) but maybe that is because they're powdered, which i like and find mask smell better and make you smell good for longer without having to constantly reapply (which is why i get powdered mens deodorant).

I have one armpit that always stinks, my right one, strong scent of onion, burns the eyes sometimes. The left pit, no odor ever. Weird. I can't wear deodorant, allergies, plus rash, so if I just get a hint of the odor I wash my pit with a dampened paper towel with a little bit of soap, all good for a while again. Maybe its a gland problem, how could one armpit smell so much and the other nothing, makes no sense to me.

I live in a place that some would call a hippie commune, so I am well versed in the smell of butt rot and how it transgresses into different levels of flavor.

It's weird, there seems to be a threshold. I.e. if someone showers a lot, they tend to become smelly very quickly. However some of the guys with the least amount of butt-rot tend to take the least amount of showers.. and somehow never seem to get sick when the rest of us do. There is something at play there, I just have no idea what it is.
