I had six sessions of laser plus a couple touch-ups, and I have zero shadow anywhere, though there are maybe half a dozen stubborn hairs that still grow in (at this point I just pluck them).
Cis women get that upper lip shadow too, though, and it's from the downy little vellus hairs that are perfectly normal on women's faces. Drugstores sell kits to wax/bleach/Nair that off specifically b/c there is a market in cis women who want to remove it.

So the bad news is, it might not be *male* facial hair at all; the good news is, if it isn't, no one will be suspicious based on that alone. (You know your face better than anyone else, of course. If you think it's still male facial hair, that's a separate issue, and it might just be very stubborn hairs.)
