Just wondering what the more experienced people here would recommend for acting feminine for someone who has trouble picking up some of the habits/actions/habits that most girls do.

In both physical and in speaking mainly.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

The easiest way is to study. Go sit in a shopping mall or equivalent where there are a lot of people and study how women react, talk, interact, what they wear, walk, everything. You can look at women in your age group in particular.

Exactly what Cindy said. I know it sounds like a cop out but it is by far the best way to learn those things. Don't use TV or movies as they are often exaggerated or unrealistic, pubs/bars can give you very skewed behaviour, best to go to the shopping mall or cafe or main street and just observe (without coming across as creepy or stalkery of course), it is a gold mine!

I personally get a lot out of shopping where there is female staff. Once they are comfortable around me and relax you can interact with them and learn a LOT about talking about items and becoming familiar with girl talk, movement and mannerism's. It is always amazing to me how my female personality then comes out and things are not forced. You will not learn about females and their behavior if you are not around or interacting with them.  :)

I'm in a college town ,so for me sitting in Starbucks you pick up a lot. I was sitting outside at a Starbucks yesterday and these three girls were talking about all sorts of things.

Ditto with everyone else,  I've also taken a seminar on walking, sitting, and movement as a part of a trans convention,  and have signed up for some individual voice training.  Seems to help, I don't knuckle walk anymore, and I now sound a bit more like Bacall than Bogart. ;)

For me it was studying other women, walking/speaking patterns. I did this every time i went out, and with it improved my response in those fields.

However; I also had many female friends in early transition who would help me with posture and walking and body language. But try not to mimic, let a bit of you shine through - being feminine comes in many ways, I personally think the best way to display femininity is to be subtle.

Doing small things like taking smaller steps when you walk, talking with your hands but not too much, looking around or taking in your surroundings, smiling xD

Think of it as a safari lol in order to become the woman you must first understand the woman by observing the woman's behavior xD

Side note: theres a chance that hormones might bring out a natural feminine behavior in you (dont know if you're on HRT or not, and this is not to say that its for sure) because since starting HRT, my reaction to things has been different than before in both vocal and body language response. Sometimes that push of empathy causes you to change slightly in your behavior. But this doesn't happen for everyone ~ it happened to me so it could happen to you too :3 I didn't learn my mannerisms or body language from my female friend or from watching other girls at the mall, it kinda just "came out" as time progressed; according to my wife (who is sometimes blunt >_< ) I am "such a girl -_-" lol but she's always been a tomboy so its to be expected lol. The only thing I was able to learn from observing other women was the walking and the speaking.

pretty much what everyone else said, observe, if you have any sisters or cousins or friends that are female, hang with them and just observe how they act and talk, but also dont be afraid to just be you, every girl is different just like guys, so don't feel like you have to match the stereotypical girl lol I have cis female friends who are pretty manly acting lol

One thing to be mindful of is being careful of overcompensating and ending up with exaggerated mannerisms.

Observing women is a great way to learn but interacting with them for me worked a lot faster. The pressure is on not to act like a Neanderthal when you are face to face with women and you are majorly aware of everything about yourself and how you are coming across. You learn really quickly how to fit in.
