Incarlina,

What you are applying in your case is essentially EMLA.  50:50 mix of lignocaine and prilocaine.   Lignocaine by itself will not penetrate skin.

Aisla,

New body hair appearing has always been a bit of a trigger for me.  The slight thinning of hair around my forehead, and changes in body hair over time were what made me jump onto low dose like a lifesaver.  But yeah, facial hairs are like cockroaches - just don't seem to be able to chase them down.  I can even count the dozen or so stragglers .  -_-

Maybe dermarolling?

My sessions are about one hour and a half each with a single probe.
Took out about a 1000 hairs per session.
It's hard for me to bear the pain and yes, my head is swollen for about a week.
It's a nightmare...

...or at least that's what six hours of multi probe galvanic electrolysis on my beard and mo feels like afterwards. Just saying.

Thought I'd highlight that again.

Seriously. Hardcore.....!

Been reading these reviews just to get an idea of what peeople are experiencing with these lidocain numbing topicals.

http://www.amazon.com/Lidocaine-GREENCAINE-Anesthetic-effective-Electrolysis/product-reviews/B005KNUHA0/

"I have been using Greencaine for electrolysis (the hairs are just too deeply rooted for the laser to reach in some places) with great sucess. It's not completely discomfort-free - i can still feel what she's doing - but it's numb enough that i nearly took a little nap during my very first appointment. Love this stuff!"

Far fetched?

BTW this is in no way endorsing this product because it actually only contains lidocaine 4%. There's stronger 10% sprays on eBay.

Yeah I'm going to side with amazons review polling, I'll let ppls know my results using 10%. I can't wait to rid my beard shadow. I need to be in passing nirvana.

And this, ladies, is why I sought out a provider who can do lidocaine injections to fully numb the face. I use E3000 (now moved to Lewisville, TX, NW of Dallas) but I've read about similar salons in Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles. Also doing the full face routine, I only have to grow everything out every 2 months, a definite blessing.

I started with local weekly electrology sessions but rapidly realized that I wanted this done quicker and without so much pain, hence my switch. I feel for those of you doing the weekly thing without full numbing of the face but I have no intent to go back to doing it that way. :)

Today I had my 5th laser depilation. First 30 minutes of anesthetic cream and then 15 minutes of pulses. And even though there's not much left it did hurt me like crazy. My bows and respect to you electrolysis girls. I'm a weakling compared to you :-) .

I think I did a mistake having the session like one hour and a half after I received my weekly injection. Originally I thought it started to hurt more after HRT start because of overall skin change and sensitivity increase. But now I'm more inclined to think that if I'll go for the next session day before injection (when the E levels are lower) it won't hurt that much.

Is it normal for the beard area to be inflamed after laser a day after? I notice my beard shadow is darker than usual especially the upper lip.

BTW: Luna. You where right. Topical lidocain didn't do jack sh*t. And believe me, it was NUMB.

Sorry, but that made me *lol*
If it makes you feel any better, you're not the first person who's doubted my advice and spent money unnecessarily.

At least it wasn't expensive.  EMLA penetrates further, but if you're talking about the annoying tingling thing, you need actual local anaesthetic.

$60 yo! That was expensive. You know how many McDonalds Happy Meals I can buy with that much mulah? ;D

Not tingling. Just pain.

It depends on how high a setting the laser was on. Some girls do get very red like if they had sunburn. As long as there are no blackened bruised areas you should be okay. It's hard to tell though without seeing.

The inflamed feeling should dissappear in a few days a long with the redness. If it doesn't the setting was too high.

I'm sorry I can't be of more help Ev.

Not really similar to sunburn, it just still appears rough like you haven't shaved in a day - after shaving ;D

That sounds normal. Yea, after the treatment your face will feel a little rough. And for the next few days while your experiencing "fallout", it may seem like the hair has thickened. But don't worry. It's just your body ridding itself of dead hairs.

Surface inflammation.  Ice, keep away from the sun, and it should recover in a week.  Ice pack for no more than 15 minutes at a time...

Yes, definitely be careful of the sun - the laser has also removed a layer or two of skin so you need to be extra careful of UV for a few days.

Here in oz, about 15.   Happy meal toys are how to train your dragon ones ATM.  So you'd have a nice flock of them.

On the other hand, $60 isn't that much in the big transition picture.  Maybe a 0.5% of the total cost depending on what you end up having done...

With a benzocaine and menthol solution 20%/10% and holding with shrink wrap for 20 minutes I don't feel anything at all from the hairs on my upper lip, not from laser or electro. I dunno about what depth the numbness is supposed to penetrate but even the other side of my upper lip feels all tingly and dull when I do it.

I thought lidocaine was like supposed to be even stronger?

My only problem has been I get like 10 minutes max once I take the shrink wrap off before I will start to feel the roots burn and in 20 minutes I can feel the surface of my skin again.
