Not sure where to start, but I am a straight guy named Kyle. I've been lookin into the whole HRT issue/process for a year and am considering it but I have a ton of questions for everyone on this board, so my apologies if I'm posting on the wrong section of the board. Even though I am nowhere near starting my transition (if I even go through with it), I'm just curious, and exploring, which is how I wound up here. So with that being said, here is my list of questions. I'll be honest, there's days where I'm tired of being a guy and wonder what it's like to be a girl sometimes, I mean maybe HRT might not be for me in the end, but I just want to explore the possibilities of it all before I make my final decision in the end. I was looking up therapists in the Austin area but I had no idea where to start and was looking for support. Thanks everyone and have a nice day! God Bless!

1. why did you decide to transition?
2. is it wrong that a completely straight guy like myself is looking into HRT?
3. what would you recommend doing before starting to transition?
4. is it vital to lose weight before transition?
5. how much does it cost to transition?
6. if/when i decide to transition, will i still be attracted to girls or will i suddenly become attracted to guys?
7. what are the pros/cons of transitioning?
8. how long does it take for complete feminization minus the surgery?
9. if i end up having the surgery, what happens then after that?
10. does HRT make your hair on your head grow out?
11. does it change your voice at all?

Welcome Mustangboy4 to the forum.

I would suggest you do find that gender therapist you said you wanted to find.

Most all the questions you ask you have to be the one to answer.

#5 The cost is very high in $ and relationships.
#6 yep could, has happened
#11 nope

For fun you can try this test. Nothing is better then a therapist.

I know I'd be the one to ultimately answer those questions, but I was just wanting to get an opinion from others :)

I agree with Izzy; a gender therapist would be the best option for you at this point.

I'm kinda on a college kid budget lol, working mediocre hours while still in college. Do y'all know of any free online therapists? Just exploring options here.

Check your collage and see if there is a lgbt group.

This can open lots of resources.

How would you answer #1 and #2? In your feelings this moment.

to answer question #1, just wanted a change, kinda tired of being a male, but i'm not gay. just wanted to explore life as a female, and i'm wantin to better myself, and if transitioning is part of it, so be it.

and for question #2, i'm unsure, which is why i'm asking y'all.

OK back to gender therapist is where you need to start

Check your collage lgbt or even area lgbt groups for therapist.

#1 I always as long as could remember I was being treated as a boy but knew they where wrong I was a girl. I was forced to hide that little girl because my generation would never understand. Boys do not cry.

#2 I lived a hetro male society role until I could no longer keep my wrong feelings inside, got a therapist and moved forward.

I do not hear things from your post that would say transition or hrt are anything you need. Maybe just cross dressing can calm your feelings?

Therapy.

Then just do nothing. Live your straight guy life if you are scared of God. But as I am told god never makes mistakes?

As I said you need to answer your questions.

I fixed my birth defect best I can.

You can't live your life in indecision. I've been there. If you're a religious person, that's fine. I'm not, but if it were me, I think I would believe god would want me to be true to myself and help me find my place in his great world. It's not a sin to be happy with your own mind and body, so if you have any sort of desire to be the opposite gender then don't let it be stifled by someone else or the great divine. You owe it to yourself to find out whether it's what you want or not. Otherwise you'll live the rest of your life constantly asking yourself the question of whether you could've been happier.

You're your own master at the end of the day. Hope you find what's best for you :)

1. why did you decide to transition?

I felt I would be more comfortable with a body shaped by more estrogen and less testosterone.

2. is it wrong that a completely straight guy like myself is looking into HRT?

You are not harming anyone by exploring your options and identity, so I don't think it's wrong.

3. what would you recommend doing before starting to transition?

I'd suggest looking over the WPATH-SOC Version 7 and/or the Wikipedia article on MtF hormone replacement and thinking about whether the changes that HRT would induce in your body might enable you to live more comfortably. You might also benefit from discussing your feelings and desires with a therapist.

If anything, God made you a penis-wielder with a body shaped more by testosterone than estrogen, but how do you know that God created gender identities with corresponding roles and traits and that you've been assigned the correct one? Presumably God has given you the ability to reason so you can reach your own conclusions with regard to your identity.
