My name is ember. I'm 25 years old, AMAB and genderqueer. After a year-plus of scheduling visits with an endocrinologist, who had apparently never encountered a non-binary trans person, and seeing a therapist, I've finally started MtF hormone replacement. Because of my relatively introverted personality and peripatetic lifestyle, my therapist has encouraged me to seek out an online forum for trans people as an alternative to attending a local support group. Over the last few days, I have enjoyed reading about the experiences of others with being trans and transitioning on a variety of forums; I'm not sure how much or how often I will contribute myself given that I won't always have internet access at home. (I live in a caravan with a friend and my two dogs, Rockman and Comrade.) My interests include travel, playing and teaching Go (the ancient Chinese board game), making mixtapes for friends and acquaintances and reading — fiction, sociological and anthropological texts and political theory (mostly radical left).
Thanks for reading my introduction; I look forward to meeting you.
