I had my haircut at my usual salon today, and they put me with a new guy who doesnt understand english. I asked him to trim the ends to keep it healthy and he then ignored me and cut the vast majority of my hair off, save my fringe, which has been left nose length so I cant walk around looking stupid, but if I gel it back it looks really obvious Im male. I hate it. I kept my hair at the side of my hair past my jaw line so I could pass better and hide my cheekbones but now its obvious. I have told them I will never accept having my hair cut by him again since he didnt follow basic instruction, but that was more than 4 months of growth gone.

I'm booking in for a haircut at a new place tomorrow and I need some ideas for haircuts that are short at the sides, in front of the ears and feminine looking. At least I still have my fringe long to hide my brow but this has actually been enough to make me have a cry tonight. It actually emotionally hurts me to see my true face shape.

on a scale of salvagable to SOL, how is it?

I guess a good hairdresser may be able to save something, maybe also with coloring it. But honestly, I would be much more worried about the facial hair - If you start working on that for now, by the time this is gone your hair will be back to the length it was

Without trying to sound rude, that's not helpful, its dark in this photo but I can shave in half an hour, I just havent today due to no razors. I asked about the hair on my head.

I am sorry - I was just suggesting to get something more permanent done about facial hair than shaving - it would help you better with passing than working on the haircut. You could for the hair get some colorings - like some blonde streaks maybe. I would not cut too much as it is now, if you want longer hair eventually.

Ok to make this a bit more clear since we seem a bit cross purposed.

-I can shave to skin level and wear makeup, but I cant invest in complete facial hair removal (thats if I want to, Im not certain how far I want to go with how I change myself)
-I use my hair to soften my features like my cheekbones to look feminine. This has thrown that out the window and made me feel miserable, so Im trying to find a girly haircut to at least look less masculine, maybe something like a pixie cut?
- The fringe is a good 4 inches while the rest of it at the sides (where I normally keep longer) are less than an inch. It creates a curtain over my face and ruins my appearance. This upsets me after months of growing it. I was trying to grow a proper braid out of this.

I was asking if there were any feminine styles that would possible help?

You don't know how far you wanna go with your transition, which is fair enough; however, it really is difficult to pass with such a dark facial hair even when it's shaved off as you will still have a shadow. Your face looks very feminine (and very pretty) already. Without the facial hair, you will get a more androgenous/ feminine look , even with such a haircut.

I'm happy someone thinks I look feminine at least. That means a lot. I am hoping to shave and use better foundation in future (not got any on here). Do you think for now a pixie cut?

Initially I was going for a big braid (think like the ones in Frozen) but thats out the window now sadly.

Sorry about the facial hair comment, I just think it cannot be stressed anough that this is a primary gender identification marker even if shaved well and covered. More than hairstyle - I know women with very bland and even masculine hairstyles but its the face that makes the look more than the hair. That said, without my haircut covering some of the temples and forehead, I would also be anxious.

You could of course also think about extensions, if that is possible? then you can have instant long hair - it costs $$ though

If you wanted a more feminine haircut *now*, you'd need to get some layering. The cut in the photo is more feminine. But you're right, there is no substitute for cutting 2 inches of hair off. I've said these two things a million times on here: pixie cuts do not work on most transsexuals, and grow your hair out WITHOUT cutting it at all. Trimming the ends does NOT make hair grow faster (if you've read or heard different, it's an absolute myth). I honestly wouldn't touch it for another year or so AT ALL, unless your job rides your butt about it and you're not willing to find another job.
