And I feel so much better!
I came out to my immediate family this past Saturday. It was the first time all of us had gotten together in a while, so I felt that it was the best time to do it.
I had come out to my sister beforehand, knowing that she would be very supportive  of me (which she was!). It was nice to have her there as 'backup' just in case.

Things went pretty much how I expected them to. My parents were, understandably, emotional and shocked about it at first. My mom cried a bit, my dad (as per usual for his personality) tried to crack some jokes to make the situation a little lighter, which I appreciated.
All in all, they were supportive. I gave them a book that my therapist had let me borrow to give them a little more information and I invited them to my next session in case they have some questions to ask her.

I can tell it's going to take quite some time for them to get used to this all. But at the same time, it made me very happy to hear my dad say things that he noted 'made sense' now. It's good to know they're observant haha.
Out of my family, I think it's going to be hardest for my mom, because I know she's most worried about how this is going to affect her socially. I guess I can't blame her.

I'm so thankful to have such an awesome sister, too! Without even a moment of pause, my sister was immediately saying, "Wow! This is amazing! I'm so happy for you" and offering her help and support in any way she can give it. She also was eager to ask questions, which made me happy because it let me know she felt comfortable enough about it all and didn't feel like I was some stranger all of a sudden.

I wonder how the therapy session will go. I'll be sure to let you all know.

*breathes, finally.*

I'm glad you received such a good start. It is never easy but at least discussion and honesty can work for you. A big step achieved and a sense of relief now. Yay mini dance!
