I think this is a good idea...online jobs are just such harsh competition, you know? And sometimes the risk of scams as well.

Man if you want I could send you a sample resume I used to structure my own. I was hunting for 6 months and didn't get a single bite, I revamped my resume according to this sample, sent it to 7 places - I got a call back in 1 day from one place that has now hired me, another called me back after a week and I am working with them as well.

If you could, I would really appreciate it. I think my resume is pretty lackluster.

^Good series. Haven't enjoyed something this much since Buffy and Angel.

Not much gone on today worth typing anything huge about. Walked dog, played with dog. Sat around on internet, answered some messages. Watched Thundarr the Barbarian while cross-stitching. Tonight was going to watch the last bit of The Walking Dead only to be disappointed that we already had, disc 5 is only extras. Dammit. Oh well, may as well watch those.

^My shortest daily blog yet.

I got up at 10am. Ate breakfeast, took a shower, checked the mail to see it was already checked. 10:30am I logged into WoW(world of warcraft) and played it pretty much until I left to work at 2:21pm. Then at arrival at 2:23pm, I clocked in, and waited until it was 2:30 to start. I was sent to pulling rips (wood-work in a factory) of which I trained a new guy as well. at 5:30pm was break when I ate a sandwich, carrots, chips, soda, and a zebra cake. I finished about 13 minutes before we went back at 6:00pm. Then I continued doing the same thing until I think 7:50? of which I switched jobs with the new guy so he could try mine as I did his. That went until 8:20pm of which was a 10 minute brake. I went to the bathroom, but nothing really came out:/ I waited basically until 8:30pm to go back just on my iPod. I continued my rip pulling until about 9:10pm, when I went to get new gloves, and the superviser asked me to go stack 1 1/2" boards with another. Did that together until about 10:40 when she moved to a different spot and I did it on my own until 11:00pm when my shift was done. Gathered my things, went to punch out, got picked up by mom to take me home, got home. Logged into WoW again, playing until about 1:55am and then logged onto this site and posted this topic in about 6 minutes, finishing at 2:18am.

Idk why, but I can remember things in extreme detail.

Who, me?  What did I do today?  I'm so glad that you asked.

I woke up this morning and my house was roasting hot, so I wandered around stark naked throwing open every window upstairs and down.  Last night I put an icepack wrapped in a towel in my puppy's bed; I think he was so comfy chillin' on his cold compress that he declined to get up with me.  (Portland is not supposed to be this hot!)

I did a really nice job on my makeup, smoothed my bangs with a flat iron, and braided my hair down my back.  It's supposed to be hot again today, so I threw on a nice, light, purple polka dot dress with cap sleeves.  Unfortunately, the nuns don't like to see my tattoos at the office, so I put on a sheer white blouse with black polka dots over my dress.

Before I left for work I spent a half hour with my puppy, Diablo, wandering around the backyard.  I have a nice big half acre yard; I wandered among the fruit trees with a pole knocking down spider webs while Diablo inspected the perimeter for evidence of nighttime visitors.  (Spiders freak me out; I knock the webs down every morning in summer so that I don't walk face first into them later in the day as I pick up fallen fruit from the ground.)

I'm at work now.  It's a little dull.  The good news is that over the weekend they cut down the giant tree that was blocking my window, so now I can see the beautiful courtyard outside.  There's exotic grasses out there, and a variety of green summer trees.  The occasional deer and coyote wander by.  When it's not so hot out, I can open the window and let the warm summer breeze blow papers off my desk.

I do not miss that tree that use to block my view.

Thank you for this opportunity to babble about my morning.  This feels good.

Kisses!

Barbie, you are such a PNW doll! I live just north of Seattle in the burbs and am enjoying this really non-typical summer weather too, hot as it is. I had often mused about how I'd like to be a fly on the wall at one of your pool games and catch the comments as you run the table on some of those macho guys.

Hiya Shantel,

I'll be at the Pacific Northwest Regional 9 Ball Championships in Lincoln City this October.  I'm hoping for a dramatic win and a big payday.  (Well, a couple thousand bucks, anyway.)  I'll keep you posted.

Good luck Barbie! And be careful around those nuns they are dangerous, they used to beat my buckles with a ruler in Catholic school. Had to laugh when I first saw "The Blues Brothers!"

Okay, so far for me today, got up early, 7am to my alarm. Got ready for work, first, had to shower even though I did yesterday afternoon, my back has been incredibly oily the past few days (my hair even felt thicker when I was washing it), makes the back of my tops have a strong manly odor (ugh, when is this going to go away!?). Oh, forgot a detail yesterday, I have all these little red bumps all over my nose, like heat blisters maybe, probably getting too much sun, just kind of odd how all these years I've had clear skin then suddenly break out like this, how unsightly. After plucking hairs, both legs and face, getting dressed, putting on make-up, took Snickers out to do her business. Called my job because I wanted to be sure of the time I had to be in for, okay, not the usual 9am, but today at 2pm, I hate evening shifts, throws me off; never understood the point in retail of constantly changing schedules around. Got on the internet for a little bit, replied to some PMs. Basically just sat around doing nothing for a while when my mom had her turn at the laptop. Oh, okay so I'm bored, I hate waiting to go to work, that's the worst thing about working later shifts, the waiting, not being able to completely relax because I know I'm have to go somewhere soon. Decided to clean out my portion of the bedroom closet.

So folded or hung up any clothes that were just tossed in piles (not that bad really, its not like they were on the floor), all nice and neat now:

My other few belongings (excluding what I have on my table in the living room - my cross-stitches and laptop):

Got about 40 minutes now before I have to leave for work. Starting to feel tired. I hate waiting. I want to have my work day done so I can relax. Need to take Snickers out again in a little bit since I'll be gone for a while.  :-\

Okay, mom drove me to work since she was on her way out to work as well. Was given housewares to do today. We are really backed up on freight now with me not being able to work enough days, hours cut, orders by higher uppers, oh well, so be it, guess we'll catch up on things sometime. But not anytime soon. Next week, same issue, only 3 days, 15 hours total for me, 10 cents above minimum wage. My boss lady said that only if I'd train to work register she could give me more hours then. Hmm, I have to think about it, that's not a position I'd like to be in, that's basically complete customer service in every way, plus stocking still. I need to do something else, this retail crap sucks and I've been doing it too long.

Truck comes in around noon on Friday, somehow I'm going to have to get over to my doctor early that morning and pick up the slip with my bloodwork order that I need, then shoot on over to my job probably immediately after. Since I didn't get home this evening until around 7:30pm I didn't do much with my time, took my dog out briefly, played with her briefly, got on the internet, started dinner, did a little bit of stitching, ate late, but gave half of my portion to my doggie and she already had 5 chicken legs before that and rice and veggies, she's a full, happy dog tonight. Answered some PMs, and now getting ready to take my dog out one last time before relaxing the rest of the night until I tire.

Thank you for sharing your morning. I enjoyed reading, like I was there with you.  :)

Thanks Megan.  It's nice to have you there. :)

Know what I did this morning?  After I threw open every window in the house to let the cool morning air in, I pounced on my sleeping puppy and harassed him until he had no choice but to fight back.  For a 7 pound fuzz ball, Diablo can be pretty darn fierce!  After he showed me who's boss, Diablo and I wandered the backyard for 20 minutes, knocking down spider webs off the fruit trees and pooping.  (Yeah, well, Diablo did all the pooping.)  The doors on our raccoon trap were closed and some of the bait was missing, but no raccoon.  I suspect mice must have stopped by for a nibble.  It's just as well; I wasn't in the mood to murder and bury a raccoon this morning anyway.

I took extra care with my makeup before breakfast, setting off my dark blue eyes with vibrant green eye shadow.  I like to look especially nice on Thursdays; it's fun to be the best dressed, glammed up girl in the pool hall on league night.  I think it stings just a little more when the macho guys get creamed at the pool table by a Barbie  Doll wannabe in 3 inch heels.  :)

Just before I left for work, I spent 10 minutes thoroughly brushing out Diablo's beautiful hair.  My partner, Patty, took him to the groomer after I left, and I wanted to make sure we weren't sending him with excessive tangles.  Unfortunately, Diablo wasn't in the mood to be brushed, so I had to wrestle him to the ground and paralyze him with belly rubs to get him to cooperate.  The horror!

*sigh*  Now I'm at work.  Three deer just wandered by my window with blackberry juice on their lips; obviously they just had breakfast in the massive blackberry patch behind the building.  The sun is shining, the sky is blue, and all I can think about is ripping someone a new one at pool league tonight.

Time to turn on an audio book (I'm listening to "Stranger in a Strange Land") and do some bookkeeping... that's what they pay me for.

Kisses!

Very entertaining read Barbie.

Got up a little late this morning, but who cares, no where I need to be. Took my estradiol pill right away, then hopped in the shower. Got dressed, plucked facial hairs, then tied up the trash and took Snickers for a walk to unload it. Feels like rain today, while out walking just had a little bit of misting come down, not much. Once back at home got some breakfast, then got on the internet. Spent an hour cross-stitching, and now back on the internet again.

Mom had put on Apocalypto, good movie, and every time we ever watched it we always have the same conversations, this is that way every time we rewatch any movie. But at one point at seeing Jaguar Paw's pregnant wife Seven, at her belly moving, my mom said something about it and I replied saying how that's the one thing that will always sadden me most, that I will never be able to experience what its like to have a child growing and moving around inside of me, can never have children myself. Sometimes this bothers me. But then I think I have it bad, it must be so much worst for those born completely female and be unable to ever bear children despite having the same parts as any other woman, almost like a sick joke.

Mom left for work a little while ago. Don't know what I'm going to do with the rest of my day, guess I'll put on those cartoons I was watching, and everything else the usual. Snickers just nudged me, guess that's a hint that its play time.

Was cross-stitching again this afternoon, then put on some youtube music videos, while recording my stitching. Suddenly the power on my laptop went out. Crap! Waited a few minutes, powered back on, okay everything seems fine, probably overheated again. Enough of this, its about time I try to do something about that, so powered it off. Got my small screw drivers, started taking my laptop apart. Took me ages to get everything undone, they sure don't make it easy. Finally I get everything but the speakers, can't seem to figure out how to remove those so I can get the motherboard off, but eventually I did, oops something snapped off somewhere, seeing little tiny pieces of broken plastic, oh well. Holy crap look at all that dust! I've had this laptop since early 2010, hasn't been taken apart ever (because these things are a bitch to take apart and reassemble), that's quite a bit of years in collecting of dust. Probably why I can't run very many programs at once without it overheating and shutting down on me. Well, lets see what I can do to fix that.

I got the vacuum cleaner out, was about to use it, dammit mom, she never cleans this thing out after using it. Amazing the vacuum even works still as the whole container was packed tight as well as the hose too, all full of dog hair mostly. I was cursing up a storm cleaning it out. She's already done broken way too many vacuum cleaners over the years, we can't afford to be having to buy another one because she's too lazy to take the container off, open it and dump it after every use (only takes a few seconds). Once done with that, put on the bristled part and started vacuuming my laptop out, clearing it of the accumulation of bunnies in the making.

It was hard enough taking it apart, now the real fun part, putting my laptop back together again. I tried to hold back, really I did, but the cursing came and I was getting so antsy with agitation with parts not going back the way they were supposed to I wanted to just say to hell with it and do what I did with my last laptop (that one was dead when I had done it), throw it out against a tree or something, but I didn't. I held it together, eventually got it pieced back together. Hmm, what'd these few screws go to? Oh well, @#$% it. Went to power on. Tried again. Power button not working. Sighs. Okay, what could be the problem. I removed the closest panel to the back. Ah, something came undone. Surely this has got to be for the power button. Getting it to plug in and stay was a pain though. I think its okay now, lets try this again. Yep, powered on!

Only took me a few hours.

So I took my laptop apart, wow, that's a lot of dust!

Fan is quite clogged up.

Okay, better!

After I put my laptop back together went to power it on, okay, what now!? Start taking it apart, first thing I remove, ah, stupid thing (in picture below) kept coming loose. Flimsy ass piece of ->-bleeped-<-.

Okay, that was exciting. Hopefully I won't have to do that again for a long time.

The little Princess and I are going fishing in the Pacific again this weekend at Westport. The boat only holds six plus the captain and a crew of one. Last year no-one brought their lunch except us and there was a young woman who was pregnant aboard so at 1PM we shared our lunch with her and her husband. This year we're taking loads of prepared food just to be good scouts as the restaurants around there suck and the food is swimming in grease of unknown age and origin.

I grilled up a load of boneless chicken thighs covered in Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce, and made one of my killer potato salads. Before we head out the Princess is going to assemble several big sliced beef and pastrami sandwiches with sourdough bread to share on the boat because we know no-one will have the sense to bring anything. Last year an enormous whale surfaced close to us, I thought it was a submarine at first as Bangor Nuclear Submarine Base is not far off, it turned out to be Mrs. Moby Dick and she had a calf with her, we cut the engines and watched them do tail flips for half an hour. Here's my potato salad recipe:

Potato Confetti Salad

1 Peel and cut 5 lbs. potatoes into approx. 1.5" pieces.
Steam until they are still firm but can be pierced through with a fork.
Place in large mixing bowl.
2 Add 4 - 5 stalks chopped celery.
3 Add partial bunch of radishes.
4 Add partial bunch chopped green onions.
5 Add small can sliced black olives.
6 Add 3 - 4 tablespoons sweet pickle relish.
7 Add several heaping tablespoons Mayonnaise.
8 Using a fork and a heavy hand mash and blend together.
9 Add salt and pepper to taste.
10 Add several teaspoons of apple cider vinegar to taste.
11 Add 2 teaspoons of mustard to taste.
12 Garnish with sliced hard boiled eggs, paprika and a sprig of parsley.

Note: Steps 6 - 11 will require some finesse to get the right consistency and flavor. Be careful not to overdue the vinegar and mustard, use just enough to give it a little tangy taste. You may want to adjust the salt, mayonnaise and pickle relish, best to creep up on the amounts tasting as you go!

A couple years ago I had to take apart my mom's laptop because the power cord was not only too giggly but was overheating and the smell of burning components inside of the laptop had made it become a possible fire hazard. I ordered a new part, took it all apart, took out the somewhat melted power thingy inside the laptop and replaced with new one. Was better after that. For a little bit. My mom's laptop had issues early on, sound in one speaker never worked (didn't realize this being why the volume never seemed to go very loud until much later on), webcam also overheated even when not in use, I had to cut the wires to that. It was a mess and while I was able to keep it going a little bit longer, it eventually just died. I've been sharing mine ever since with her.

Sounds wonderful Shan. I'd so love to see a whale in the wild like that. I never cook to any recipes, aside from quick meals, I do food the lazy way, store bought, but sounds delish. :)

Ooh, dark and stormy night, last night into the wee hours of the morning, lightning crashing, thunder rolling and rain coming down in sheets as thick as lead. Mom woke me up at some point, scared out of her wits, oh come on mom, its just thunder. Well I don't like it, she says. Boom after boom, bright flashes accompanying every explosion. She's like, how can you sleep through that? I don't know, I just do. And so after getting up to get a drink and pee, got back into bed and dozed off to the drummer in the sky.

Had to go to my doctor's office to pick up a slip for blood test orders this morning. But didn't rush out, figure we'll have enough time to get there, me run in and get it and get back before I have to go to work. We left out a little after 9, after I had made a call to be sure it was ready for me to pick up. Once there I rush in, tell the lady at the desk, she greeted me by name, same sweet thing that was there last time, and gave me the blood work paper. I asked her if I had to pay there or when I go to get it done. She said there. So she gives me the total, I forget exactly but it was around $240 something. Huh!? But he told me in email that it'd only be $70 for one of the tests and $100 for the other. She said it was for 4 tests. Well, I can't afford that right now, I don't have enough money. She apologized and said not to worry, we'll get it worked out, she'll get with the doctor once he comes in later. So took the paper and left kind of upset, but what could I do. Just have to wait and see what can be worked out. I can always call and pay over the phone once I come up with the difference for those other tests. Once home I checked that email again, $70 for two tests, a hundred for another, that only makes three total. But maybe I didn't understand the $70, that it could have been for each, not both tests, seems to add up to what she told me. Ah, oh well, will get to that later since I'm short anyway. No big deal, its not like its an emergency.

Just 10 minutes home, getting ready to eat something before going to work, mom tells me my store called. Oh geez, what now, truck came early, truck isn't coming until later, or truck not coming at all? I call back, old boss dude answers, I ask what's up, he tells me the truck is there now. Okay, well, I'll be in as soon as I can, half hour or so. I'm so tired of this being on call, never knowing for sure when to go in on truck days. I didn't rush out the door to work either, took my time, I was told originally noon, so I don't care if I'm a few minutes later than 11:30. Mom drove me in. Got to work, went to my locker, got my work clothes out that I left there, went into the restroom to change out of my denim capris and cute little floral dress, putting on rough, dirty clothes for the job to match. Oh, the good driver is here today, hadn't seen him in a while, this should go well then. Also, no sun really today, but it still did get humid. Got the truck done pretty quickly, good because I'm so backed up on HBC it'd take a miracle to catch up, get it all out, all of last weeks load and today's. Probably 5 u-boats worth of merchandise for that area, I got 1 full one done with the 3 hours I had to work it. Will just have to continue where I left off tomorrow morning.

Changed out of my work clothes, back into my pretty girly outfit. I told mom I'd be ready for about 5:10 when she had dropped me off, but I forgot when I told her that I wasn't going in for noon but 11:30, so figured save her the trouble of having to come and get me, I'll walk home. Bad time to walk, road is very busy, everyone trying to get home from work, all in a rush, some not paying attention. I press the walk button at the lights on the main road, a few minutes later get the signal, I step out slowly, watching out the corner of my left eye a car that appeared to be in a rush, and sure enough the jerk the moment her/she has a chance takes off to turn, not paying any attention that a pedestrian is there with the right a way to cross. Comes to an abrupt stop, as I had myself just an instant before thinking I was about to be run down, I muttered a curse word and kept crossing. I hate crossing streets, so much worst with traffic in 4 different directions, never know who'll not be paying attention and that could be it, one moment you're alive, the next, roadkill, alongside the squirrels and deer.

Good, mom didn't leave out yet to come and get me. I was worried she'd come early and we'd miss each other. Mom asked why I walked home, why didn't I call, she could've came and got me. Eh, too much trouble, by the time you got there I could've been home. Snickers is on the rag, time already? Uh, guess so, last time was what, December, January? More dealing with blood, oh well, that's what peroxide comes in handy for. Could've gotten her fixed long ago, even still, but both my mom and I don't like that idea much, so she bleeds a little here and there, it cleans up, and she is conscience of it too and tries to keep clean. Also she humps her plush toys and blankets, oh well, better than taking her female parts away just for our convenience. Only'd do it if it compromised her health, otherwise, she's an indoor dog, so its not like we need worry she's going to get knocked up and have puppies.

Mom returned the last videos we'd gotten from the library after she dropped me off at work, got some more, so guess we'll be watching some of those later. Actually she already got started while I've been sitting here typing up my day. Actual she fell asleep to the movie, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, sounds kinda lame to me, I've only just been hearing it as background noise since I'm busy here, not ready to watch movies until I can pull away from my laptop for a bit. I can't multitask in watching a movie and do something else at the same time.

Okay, so end of the night is almost through, just finished watch the Man of Steel. Uh, yeah. Felt like I was watching some bizarre sci-fi movie with someone that looks like Superman but isn't. Only thing keeping me watching was just out of curiosity of how it'll turn out, but that's a one time deal there. Not good at all, can't think of anything redeeming about the movie at all. I could've spent quality time on here instead typing to a friend.

I had a similar computer problem last week, but the difference between me and Megan is that I gave up when I looked at the shape of the screws on my pc, and now I'm using the internet with a 2002 eMac. It's got a crt monitor, so everything gets jiggly if we run the microwave. I can use youtube, though, sorta, if I switch to 144p and let the whole thing load first.

I'm pretty sure that what went wrong involves a lot of cat hair, but I don't think it's a total coincidence that the machines in my household always die in July. I'm still on the fence about whether to buy tools and parts and try to figure out what to do or just pay someone else to do it.

Today I mostly played neopets. I got really nervous this morning and spent a lot of the day both trying to figure out why and trying not to take it out on other people. We cooked from a recipe that was on a can of cannelini beans. It was a big can of pre-made tomato soup, a can of spinach, some noodles, the beans, and some onion powder and italian herb mix. We've made it before but I'm always surprised that beans and pasta can go together in anything.
