ok so I have no idea about my pants size for female pants. I have been buying tops and stuff online because I am far more comfortable buying stuff online at this point, and I can get some really good deals on ebay! The thing is that I can buy pants because I have no idea what size I am. In mens I wear 28-30 and my waist and hip measurements are 28-36. any advice? btw I am also pretty tall at 5'11

I wear 32-34 waist, and I'm 5'11-ish. I find 10s are usually loose, 8s usually fit ok and I can occasionally be comfortable in a 6.
Have you read my short story The Eve of Triumph?

On ebay in Australia, alot of the bigger ebay stores for women actually have links or actual sizing charts in there advertisements. If what your looking at doesnt  have one google it etc. Basically go grab a tailors tape and for pants measure your inside leg, waist, and butt kind of thing and consult the charts. I did that with jeans and even shoes when I was first buying things online.
Another thing, buy something cheap if you can afford to, as a 'tester' even if you've messed up and it doesnt fit the great thing about ebay, just turn around and resell it. You cant really lose :)

^an example of size charts(its metric, but you get the idea) and it converts to all sizes available worldwide. This is just a google result btw

I buy jeans from alloy online.  They are the bomb as I've a 37 inch inseam and miserable to find anywhere but a 7 for all mankind store which are 160, too much money.  You are tall so they would be great.  Ive worn them a long time andfthey wear excellent.

at 36 tall isnt really long enough I dont think.  I wear a 6...33 inch levis guy jeans fit loose, idk what works for you.

I'm roughly the same. I'm around a 5 or a 6.

I noticed that a lot of store sites have a size reference chart and on most sites I am a 6.  :icon_geekdance: :icon_woowoo:

Womens shoes are usually 2 sizes higher than mens. So if you're a 10, you'd be a 12 in womens (usually).

But womens shoes, like their clothes, vary in sizes. I have some size 4 jeans that fit, and some size 6 jeans that I have to jump my fat ass into. I also have some 7.5 shoes, and even a pair of 9s. I generally fit well into a size 8.

Time for a visit to Goodwill.  There you'll find thousands of pairs of women's pants in all sizes and styles, dirt cheap, and you can either try them on there (trust me, nobody cares - they've seen it all before) or buy a few pairs in various sizes and take them home to test.  A great way to figure the sizing thing out before you spend real money on new clothing.

While men's sizes seem fairly easy to predict, women's pant sizes are all over the place.  I no longer buy pants without putting them on first, because an 8 from one manufacturer seems to have absolutely no correlation with an 8 from another manufacturer.  It's like they roll a dice when figuring out what size to label their pants.

(As an aside, while I used to shop at Goodwill when just starting out, I still go there because my local has some awesome, like-new, branded jeans for $5-$10 per pair.  While much of the other clothing is rather dated and uncool, the jeans I can't speak highly enough about.  Well worth it.)

ok thanks I know that each store different...

This.

Every maker is VERY different, and you learn quickly what "vanity sizing" really means and what you wear in each line.  GAP runs smaller than most for example. Sizing reflects both waist and hip, and where the pants are supposed to fall on you. Some stores/brands carry multiple shaped pants, especially jeans -- straight, slightly curvy  and curvy are the usual.  These are based on hip to waist relationship, and vary themselves.  Then there is where they sit on your hips -- low, mid, etc. As with men's clothes, jeans and all other pants fit differently. Lastly, the material makes a difference, especially if you have stretchy denim.  I usually wear a 4 slightly curvy in jeans (and almost always in skirts), but often I need a 6 for other pants as they should not be as snug. ALSO: just make it complicated, some lines are shifting to a European-style sizing for jeans (and I don't mean UK, which numbers larger than the US does).  Calvin Klein, Banana Republic and others use it now, and I've seen it at department stores.

I don't where you are in HRT, but that DOES affect how you size pants as well. It's really a matter of experimenting, and I'd simply go to a store that carries what you want and try them. If you are just starting HRT, don't buy a whole lot as your body will be changing for a while.

With shoes, I agree that it's roughly 1.5 to 2 sizes up from the men's, however, you may want to also look at width (women's B are sometimes narrower than medium men's).  Your foot may also change with HRT as you lose muscle. In my case I lost a full size.  The easiest thing to do is go to a self-serve shoe store and use one of the foot measuring templates for women. No one will notice.  Finally, MANY shoes available use the UK or European sizing, even if they are labeled with US system. You'll probably want to check that too.

This all gets easier once you know what you wear with each brand, but even then it's not 100%.

You really have to go out and try on the clothing when it comes to women's wear

I have tried internet shopping but it more often than not ends up frustrating me enormously

I tend to take a few sizes of one piece to the dressing room right away.. just to make sure hehe :P

Men's wear I did try out as well but was much easier to fit right away. Completing the Dull-Look in a minute was no hard feat!  ;D

Yeah well, it's easier to dress as a guy with guy clothes than it is to dress as a girl with the bodies we tend to have. Lord knows I fight with it too...

Well I've always had a slender figure but I do see a little more curve and fat appearing now with HRT..Nothing troubling enough to start that dreaded thing called sports though ;D

HRT should have a "Free Pudding additive' disclaimer added haha

Most of my clothing came from my Ex strangely enough.

All of her clothing literally fits me, which i found to be odd since shes 5'5 and im 6ft tall...
My torso is a little longer then most guys though so my hips are lower. She used to tease me because a lot of her clothing fit better on me then on her.
Anyways i got lucky because most of mine were given to me.

I have gone to a lot of department stores to try on clothing, very odd at first and people do kinda stare... But it doesnt matter, a lot of them will never see you again AND most of the staff is helpful.
xD haha. Anyways... GL and ive never tried online shopping... I kinda want to try it but ive read so many horror stories over the years.

-maybe thrift stores?
