I have an estrogen implant and it has been quite efficient. When I saw the endo a while ago at the six month mark of it being implanted he was very happy with my E levels saying they were over 100 and something, and that I wouldn't need to replace implant until the levels dropped under 80 whatevers. So now, almost three months later, I wonder if it has dropped, I have been feeling somewhat down and irritable the last few days, might this be a symptom of lowish E? I know I feel more like I did before HRT so I guess the answer could very well be yes. Fortunately I see my endo next Monday, hopefully it will be time for the next implant...

I was wondering about levels myself, and found a chart on Wikipedia that's very helpful. I guess I can't post a link, but its on the page for "Estrogen" and has is subtitled "Reference ranges for the blood content of estradiol, the primary type of estrogen, during the menstrual cycle." I understand its safe to go over 1000 pmol/L with an implant.

To save you the trouble, I read all the terms and conditions and so on...

Funny that Grace, I see him next week too.

Won't be around the same time as you though.  It'll be interesting to see what my levels are at.

Grace, during the just 5 weeks I have taken these great hormones (E and P for me), just once I went 36 hours instead of 24 hours between doses.

I felt anxious, impatient, like I was under severe time pressure, and within an hour of simply taking my normal dose of E and P 12 hours late, I felt "right" again.

So I certainly can understand your anxiety of needing a "refill."

Micronized progesterone is SO wonderful for me.  I feel like I want to take it for the rest of my life.

It's nice to know my gut feeling on this was accurate...apparently my E levels were around 550 and T at 1.2, that was half as much and twice as much respectively compared to three months ago. No wonder I was feeling cranky! It's a miracle I didn't freakin' axe murder someone!!

Anyway, good oil' Dr H has stitched me up (quite literally) with another E implant. Starting to feel a bit sore in my right butt cheek now the local has worn off but it shall be worth it! No axe murders for at least eight months.

Grace, my E level is around 600 and I thought I was feeling reasonably OK. It that's too low, then you've seriously made me wonder what it's like to double it. I think I've forgotten what normal feels like.

But why Dr H. rather than his full name? I'm seeing him, and I found him though these forums by searching through old posts, including one of yours (I've been lurking along time). These forums are an invaluable source of information if only you can find things. This thread would be hard to find because it doesn't mention Sydney or the doctors name. And he is as wonderful as everyone says - I'm beginning to think he's saved my life.

No doubt about it, Dr Hayes is awesome guy who has helped many, many trans people in the Sydney area. I've taken to calling him Dr H here probably because I'm over familiar and presume many of the other Sydney girls will know who I mean, but I understand what you mean...for those looking for help the initial isn't overly helpful.

As for my level, I'm on an estrogen implant and Dr Hayes said when I went under 800 it was time for a new one (the previous time I was there it was about 1,200, even higher the time before). I presume the implants usually get one's E levels higher than oral...?

For reference, my E levels were around the 250-280s consistently on my low dose oral E regime.  He's expecting me to  be around 400 on a low dose implant regime.  I suspect that I'm running as high as I can without overdoing it....

Nice to see another poster, and a Sydney one at that.  A lot of the girls in Sydney go to a few places in common for their transition related needs.

Mmm this could be why I'm looking at my cruches and walking stick lately,  thinking of other things that they can be used for that don't invole helping you get around . My engine is finally on the right fuel but just not enough. Have to go in for a tune up in the next few weeks, might see if she will upgrade me to E100 instead of the standard unleaded I'm running on now

Can you still have too low a dose even if you feel mentally good?

I honestly couldn't say. I suppose there's a point where a dose is so low that it doesn't do much from physical point of view but might have an effect on emotions.
