Chicago Trans Pride is an independent and public gathering to celebrate the beauty, diversity, and resilience of the trans* community in Chicago. Chicago's trans* community has a lot to be proud of in 2014 and what better way to celebrate than a lakefront beach party.

While beaches are traditionally not trans* affirming or body positive spaces, we will stake claim and join together in to be present, visible, and proud! We hope you can join us for this celebratory gathering to celebrate our trans* community and remember those we have lost.

Specifically, we would like to remember the passing of Selma Diaz, a transgender woman who was found near Montrose Harbor in 2011, and dedicate our gathering to her life. Please join us to honor her as we join together to fill this space with positive energy and resilient trans* community. This gathering is an independent, non-organizationally affiliated event.

Location: Hollywood Beach ----look for the trans pride flags*******
Sunday, July 27
Time: 12PM-5PM
What to bring: your coolers, chairs, beach wear & any trans pride flags or other visibility is welcome but not required!

Trans Pride is a visibility gathering with no formal program.

BYO food & refreshments***

*beach is accessible toward all entrances. There is a ramp closest to the water near the Hollywood end.

"Choosing to be true to one's self — despite challenges that may come with the journey — is an integral part of realizing not just one's own potential, but of realizing the true nature of our collective human spirit. This spirit is what makes us who we are, and by following that spirit as it manifests outwardly, and inwardly, you are benefiting us all." -Andrew WK

If Chicago wasn't 6 hrs away from me, I might have attended this.
