Hey all,

New member to the site and just wanted to say Hi. I'm not transgender, but a close friend of mine came out to me as transgender this past year. To be honest, I've had limited exposure to the trans community in the past; I work in the medical profession and have had some exposure in that regard, but otherwise i'm pretty much a noob. I want to be there for my friend through her transition and afterwards - I've often ended up on this website when googling trans related things;  ( I find that often times I say something offensive or am kind of an idiot about trans related things without meaning to be, hence the internet. ) Hoping that this forum/community  will be a good resource to make me a better friend / advocate for the trans community. At the same time, hopefully i'll be able to offer some input from an outsider's perspective from time to time.
