I did It!! Well, sort of.

I went to a family reunion this past weekend.  I hadn't seen these people in over three years.  None of them have seen me with anything longer that a medium fade, militarty regulation hair or with earrings.  Now, I'm not out yet to most people, and my family is very conservative, bible belters.

I got home and met my parents at a restaurant near the hotel I was staying at (Grandmother paid for the entire trip so she could see my daughters).  My parents will have to get used to the idea of me being trans, but they were more supportive than I expected.  My Dad was more upset that I had gotten into some minor legal trouble a few months ago, than he was at the idea I was trans.

My maternal grandmother (not the one funding the reunion/trip) kind of knew anyway as I had kept better contact with her and my uncle and family on that side, but she and the entire side were supportive.

I didn't get a chance to talk one on one with my paternal grandmother (the one funding everything) because it was a hectic weekend for her.  I plan on having a nice long phone chat soon.

The cousin I told was also very supportive when I told him.

I didn't just pull some family members aside and tell them, I was dressed en femme as well.  No dresses (not comfortable with that yet) but I wore my girl's jeans and either a blouse or peasant top for most of the events and I'm sure some of my family members could tell I was wearing a bra.  No negative comments were made, I didn't really get positive ones, but I'll take just not being commented on with my family . :P  Now that they've all seen me, I'm going to start telling them via phone and email/facebook message.  It should go well.

I'm so glad this weekend went well!  It should be a good sign, overall!

I just had to share, I'm so excited!

Congrats sweetie! That was the second biggest step you took in your journey. The first was admitting you were trans to yourself. I hope you continue this strong the rest of the way to your personal goals!  :)
