Recently I've had very tender lips. They also seemed to grow outwards and become fuller. I've also noticed that the pigmentation has changed and they are a little bit redder. I've definitely noticed it on my bottom lip, but i'd need to compare with old photos for my top lip (I've got a bit of an overbite :S). I'm just on approach to the 5 month mark of HRT and really just started the 'good' stuff two months ago.

My lips have also been cracking a lot more on the lower edge. It really hurts, even with CONSTANT application of lip balm.
On a lighter note the extra pigmentation, with a clear lip balm, makes me look like I'm wearing a really nice color lipstick.  :-*

This doesn't seem to be on the list of common effects of HRT. Or if it is, its just under "face."
Anyone had similar experiences with their lips? Extra softness, color, size, shape?

Mine filled out a little bit, one of the major features I wish I could change
Yes! I'm single
And you'll have to be pretty f'ing amazing to change that

Mine have felt dry and chapped for a few months.  I've gotten used to ALWAYS having lip balm with me now!

When I look in the mirror they seem to have more color to me and my therapist made the comment about a month ago that they seem more full to her.  Personally they don't look a much more full to me but I look in the mirror every day so it could just be gradual enough that I don't see it yet.

Why HRT should change anything on the lips?

Major changes. Thicker/plumper lips, especially bottom and people will often think I'm wearing lipstick when really, I'm wearing nothing at all.

Estrogen rises around the time a woman ovulates and thus is most fertile. Physical cues (i.e. redder, thicker lips) brought upon estrogen are a means to attract males to females so that reproduction can take place at that time. So, really, it shouldn't be any surprise. Just like the perkier breasts around this time or the increased redness in cheeks. Women also tend to be more aroused at this time.

I won't say about being aroused.  :-* But the redness, softness and generally looking/feeling plumper is definitely there.

Increased subcutaneous adipose deposits thanks to feminizing hormones. Not just across the cheeks, the whole face including the lips.

I always had very full lips, but lately seem that I get periods of severe dry and chapped lips too, gets so annoying!
Love to all xx

I used to get the dry lips before when I was on estrogen, low dose oral. Now, on injections with progesterone, I no longer have that problem.

My lips are a bit fuller and redder, about 13 months on HRT. Haven't had cracking or chafing issues. I'm on an E implant and oral Progesterone.

Here are two things i found that helps with lips.

1 exfoliate them once a day with a toothbrush. This forces a better blood circulation in the lips and removes dead skin.

Also i use loreal collagen filler wrinkle decrease cream. It has several useful ingredients that help both immediatly and in the long run.

These almost doubled my upper lip and added 1 third to the lower one

They're mostly composed of fat tissue, if I understand correctly. HRT resdistributes the way fat is stored in your body.

Within a few months of starting HRT, I definitely noticed a little plumpness and sensitivity to my lips that was not there before. Bottom lip especially seems to have filled out quite nicely. That and the upper cheeks filling out a little were quite pleasant surprises.

I noticed quite recently that my lips are definitely fuller and plumper. Although, Pre HRT my lips weren't as full but it is definitely more round and pinkish this time.
:) I really believe E has something to do with it xo
Nothing ventured nothing gained

So it's not my imagination. I do notice a bit fuller lips.

I have only been on hrt for a few months, but I guess I'll have to start paying more attention to my lips.  :P
So far the only change I have seen is the capping and dryness, but I just attributed that to possible skin changes as well as all of the cold dry air we have had here this winter.

If we consistently fail to celebrate our successes, others will certainly celebrate our failure.

HRT helped to make my bottom lip fuller, but I had a lip lift to bring out my upper lip.

The first week I was on HRT, my lips swelled up considerably.  My doctor had made a switch in my blood pressure medication at the same time and lip swelling is one of the side effects so I assumed it was the BP medicine.  The strange thing is that I've been off the BP medicine for a while now, but my lips are still much bigger.  On top of that, they no longer look swollen as my lip skin has almost completely extended over the swollen parts.  At this point, the change seems permanent.

I have just noticed some major changes in my lips in the past few days. After being in Androcur & estradiol valerate for 2 months,my lips are quite enlarged, and very red...even redder than most women's lips. The upper lip is very full looking and curled up a bit more that it has ever been, towards my nose. Also,a very freaky but pleasant change is that along the outside edges of both upper & lower lips, there is a very noticeable 2 mm dark pink expansion starting to form along the edge for some reason. :)

My lips are just a bit fuller. None of the women in my family have full lips unless they are very overweight.
