So, Friday night I got tired of waiting for the fabled "perfect opportunity" to come out to my sister and just did it.  We were talking via text about something she wanted help with over the weekend and we're about to wrap up so finally I just said....

Me:  so um.....  f#@k....there is something I need to tell you.  I've wanted to get together for awhile to do this but it never send to happen...

Her:  Ok, what?

Me:  I'm transgender

Her:  OK

Long pause.....wait for whatever comes next.....  nothing....

Me:  Ok?

Her:  Why wouldn't it be? I don't care as long as your happy.

YAY!!  Huge sigh of relief....  we went on to talk for about two more hours about it, I shared a few pictures with her of me dressed.  Her telling me she'll have to hate me if I'm a prettier girl than her...  Talking about things from when we were growing up that now make a lot more sense.  It was so great, and a HUGE relief.

I'm paraphrasing a lot of this otherwise I'll end up with a TL;DR post but wow, I love my little sister so much.

I'm so lucky to have the family I do.  :)

Thank you,

And yes it was a HUGE relief!  I honestly didn't expect it to go badly but it's always an unknown.  I'm glad I wasn't too surprised!  :)

Autumn, Wow I FEEL so happy for you!

At some point I will come out to my sister in the United States.  I live in South America, a long way away, so there is no hurry as such.

I have great relationship with my sister, so I hope that whenever I DO decide to come out with her, she will be accepting.

Most of my family -- most, but not all -- of my family was accepting when a female cousin of mine came out to our family as lesbian.

So, with my sister and even other family, maybe I will be okay.  We will see.

What great news for you!

Johanna.
I am female.
