Would you answer the door without makeup?

I'm pet-sitting at my boss' up in the mountains. Yesterday a neighbor approached me with his shotgun. He said he wanted to make sure I was safe and that no other vehicle was here because his dogs barked when I passed. I was in my work scrubs and had makeup on.

Today he knocked but I refused to answer because I look like a man without makeup and flat, short hair. I texted him I was in the tub to sway him away. Awkward. I felt so bad afterward because he seemed very nice and is just protective of his neighbors. He said he knocked to apologize if he scared me with his gun last night. My coworkers happen to know him and say although he's an ex-Military sharp shooter, he's a good redneck.

But I don't think he knows I'm trans and even that he seems like a good guy, I'm not risking to meet his gun.

Just wondering if some of you are like me and won't answer a door without dolling up some...

Yes! I've started to ever since laser cleared my face. The last time was when I had pizza delivered (a few months ago) and I was being paranoid about the slight shadow I still have left on my upper lip but nope the delivery guy gendered me correctly. Now that I'm thinkin about it, I can't remember the last time someone misgendered me. I just let my social anxiety/paranoia get the best of me sometimes.

I wore makeup 24/7 cause I needed to hide my beard shadow. Laser freed me from that annoyance. I still use a touch of foundation but its nowhere near the amount I used to have to put on.

But my hair always has to be done, since its pretty long. If I just let it go, it looks really bad. So most of the time I have it up, just easier to deal with.

Christina that sounds scary though, I wouldn't risk confronting that guy without looking my best. Rednecks can be really cool and definitely the kind of people that will have your back.

I would think it to be really odd to miss a package delivery or other important stuff just because of makeup. Ah well. I actually have started to use some makeup again nowadays, but only a tiny bit for the eyes...

A couple of days ago I was changing getting ready to go out and a car pulled up out front.I recognized the person who started walking to the door as someone from my past. She knocked I opened the door, flash ---no top no bra no makeup--hi - Kodak moment - red face-- be right back. She had stopped by to see how I was doing after hearing about me from a mutual friend ,we had not parted on the best of terms so I was surprised to see her.Best comment  my your chest has certainly filled out.Just glad it was not my friend the UPS guy!  :)

I wouldn't either with the kind of motivation you have!

But yeah, I do. In fact, I don't do makeup except for job interviews and other special occasions anymore. :)

Yes - I found the stupid makeup I bought lately is indeed not making my eyes red and itchy anymore, but it does not last nearly as long as the one I had before. I need to find one that is lasting and not giving me allergies. Its part of why I did not like makeup for years. I especially despise that foundation and cream makeup or powder. it makes the whole face want to generate pimples and red spots ;)

I would look thru the peephole first, a close friend sure, they can deal with my face, a USPS guy or the like I will also open it, trust me I used to do household delivery what I am going to be one of the less strange things.... If it is a casual acquaintance probably not, impressions are everything till someone gets closer.

Waaaaa Hahaha that is a riot!  :D My Border Collie goes to the door, teeth bared, hackles up, thinks he's an alpha dog. If I don't want to see someone he usually scares them away. I never wear makeup, it's no use to me anyway as I am too lazy to care about what someone else thinks. Hopefully I'm not too scary!

I'm so looking for that moment as I use only a tiny bit of makeup to cover gray spots from remnants of facial hair. There's a period between my laser sessions when it's not needed which is getting longer and longer so I hope that eventually I won't have to use makeup at all.

When it comes to answering the door... That would heavily depend who's on the other side.
Semi-blind asperger transwoman. But do I care? No I don't. I love myself :-) .

I would want to be able to pass without makeup. I don't like the looks of it. Natural is better.

Misha : Good point! I did indeed slather on foundation like crazy until the facial hair was gone. :) It's SUCH a relief that it is - and even better, a clear-skinned hairless face without makeup is a strong signal of femininity, I've discovered.

well to be honest I wouldn't even answer it with make up on haha, I'm in my first month on HRT and I've been looking and feeling like ->-bleeped-<-, i have acne all over my face, although my doctor said its temporary, I've been having very aggressive mood swings and I find myself crying or laughing over the stupidest things. Fortunately I don't study or work right now, and my parents support me and my transition, so I think I'll have to wait until I'm over this hormonal monster phase so I can go out and have a social life again. :/
I feel alive when I transform <3 so don't dream it, be it....

I don't generally do make up. It's not a job requirement, nor something I feel I need. So it's a low priority special occasion thing. My profile pic is post surgery, obviously no makeup.
