So I went to my school today ((The day before school starts)) To make sure that I was going to be allowed to use the men's lockerooms for my weight training class. I got sent to the counselor and I talked to him about my situation, (I'm FtM and wanna use men's lockerooms)
What surprised me at my school is that everyone I told at my school that I was transgender automatically knew what I was talking about, so I didn't need go through long, convoluted explanations. So the counselor asked over an administrator and we started talking about what I wanted.
The reaction was the best I could've ever gotten!
She told me that bathrooms weren't a problem ((Obviously, I've kinda been using mens bathrooms for awhile now XD)) But that she would allow me the option of choosing if I wanted to have a specific area to dress out or just use the regular men's lockeroom. Because I told her in advance that I couldn't use the women's lockers because
a) Somebody always freaks out when I walk in ((I mean, I have a mustache))
b) I feel incredibly uncomfortable and dysphoric.
c) I got harassed too much in there.
She told me that she would speak to the coaches in advance about my situation and that she saw no problem with me using the lockeroom congruent with my gender identity. 8D Also, I handed her a paper that explained in detail over people who are trans*
And she said that she would bring it up at the next staff meeting so that she could educate the rest of the teachers who may not be so familiar with the T spectrum. It's amazing that I kinda indirectly had the opportunity to shed some more light on the T in LGBT, and I get to use the men's lockeroom!
I'm positively giddy! My school may have a lot of defects, but lack of acceptance isn't one of them! 8,D
