Had My First Electro Session Today

Today was my first session of electrolysis and it wasn't bad at all. More annoying or uncomfortable than painful save for a few spots that actually hurt but even those were tolerable. I'd say, on a 1-10 scale, the overall experience was a 3 with a few spikes to 5.

I feel drained emotionally though. This is the first permanent step I've made in my transition (well, maybe starting therapy and telling my best friend count as first and second) but I think this might be more of a milestone. The tech was very upfront and told me this is a long process - several years, so I'm looking ahead and the light at the end is very distant. I feel kind of drained right now and I'm not sure if I want to curl up and cry and hope for some cathartic release, or stay up and try not to think about things.

On another note: I'm kind of upset over having to take out all eight earrings. They're damn near impossible to get back in on my own.  >:( :'(

Congrats on the ease of your treatment.

Some day's are harder to get through then others but take the good when you have them.

Congrats on taking this big step, I'd like to start electrolysis also. If I may ask, is it several years just for the facial area? That sounds like a really long time. I hate taking my piercings out too or having them fall out, I am the worst at putting them back in and have spent almost 2 hours before trying to get the ball back in my nose ring after changing it (happened more than once). Yes, I'm very persistent haha. I hope things get easier for you as time goes by. :)

I seem to be lucky in that my hair growth is about half as dense and much slower growing so I could maybe get full clearance in two years of weekly visits.

I'm doing ok, little redness and a mild feeling like a sunburn but no pain or real irritation so I don't feel any need to ice the area.

Congratulations on the start of a very interesting journey. I can only give you some advise as I have been doing electrolysis for 2 hours a week for 14 months. Before that I had laser remove the dark hairs (over 14 months) but I'm 50% blonde /white hairs so electrolysis was the only option. I have had a few technicians and I can tell you there is a difference if they are good or poor in their skills. The good one place the needle carefully down te shaft and makes sure they don't go too deep, there is much more pain when they do. My facial hairs are now in the clearing stage which means every time I go in they clear all the hairs, I have not shaved in 4 months. The hair gets finer and finer until finally they stop showing up......yes it depends on the amount of hair but it does take well over a year and the pain ... well you kinda get used to it except for under the nose - ouch. But wow the difference in appearence is fantastic.
When we first start our journey the perception and moral values all dramatically change in wonderment. As we evolve further it all becomes normal again but the journey has changed us forever.

I'm a natural redhead/honey blonde mix so no laser for me. :(

The tech I have is very good and came recommended by another member here. I'm guessing she's very good since the pain was very tolerable. The redness is pretty much gone now as well. All in all I found the anticipation worse than then actual event.
