I've taken a pre-op regimen for about 6 years and am happy with the feminization but now am wanting to cut back and taper if possible.  I decided to try stopping spiro and only take E.  Have been checking my serum T level over the past year and its staying low, around 20 ng/l which is in the normal genetic female range.

But I wonder if my body is more sensitive to even small amounts of T than a genetic females would be?  If I stop taking spiro and maintain the E will my body maintain its feminization?  I don't mind a small amount of increased hair growth (or libido increase :-) but don't want to lose any other body feminization.

First off any change in your meds should be done by your doctor. There might be a co-morbidity reason you are on the doses they prescribed.

Also sometimes the body will react in a way that is not expected. Talk with your Doctor and see if they feel a change is needed.

Safe passage on your path

I also had been on E & AA's for almost 6 years and then stopped the AA but still kept up with my normal weekly shot of E. At the time my T was in the sub-basement like yours and life was feeling great. However over the course of the year to 18 months following that I got more glum, moody, cynical, depressed.

The blood work up explained it all. It wasn't all the changes and stress and my life getting to me. My T was back well into the 'Normal' range!

Life is better now back on spiro

This is being done under the supervision of a doctor.

Its been several months for me and the last blood test the T level was at "basement" as you say.  Am going to have it checked again soon.

I was really hoping to not have to go back and stay on AA the rest of my life.  Guess the only long-term option would be an orchiectomy.

As long as you have those two testosterone factories down below (ie testicle 1 & testicle 2) your T levels will generally always go back up if you stop anti androgens.

Unfortunate.  I was hoping the E injections would keep things in check.  A previous physician of mine said that after a certain age T levels go way down anyhow even for normal males.  So based on that was thinking there isn't anything to worry about.

I guess I'll try to keep getting the T level checked every few months and if it/when it starts to go back up will resume spiro and consider the big "O" solution.

One has to factor in the fact that HRT is about changing ones endocrine system through the use of cross hormone drugs.

Our body does most of the work on suppression. Think of it as getting rewired by the HRT.

Once you change one of these drugs it will allow the body to start and rewire its self back to known memories.

If you do not remove the bodies factories it will move back to as natural as it can. Might be less effective.

Like look at all the girls who stopped there HRT for GCS. It does not take long for t to take over.

But you do what you feel is needed for your own body. As i said in another post talk with your doctor about your issues.
