Hi hi

Ive been on HRT for nearly 4 months now and have had sleeping issues for the last 2 months. My first visit to the endo and psychologist didnt help the issue because they seemed to shrug it off, which made me a little irritable since it's the only physical side effect I have and they couldnt even answer why.

I used to be able to sleep 8/9 hours straight every day of the week, now I am happy if I can get a few nights of 7 hours since it's mostly been disturbed nights with sleeping hours of 4/5 hours.
At around 22/23pm I head to bed and end up waking somewhere in the middle of the night, sometimes falling asleep for another hour or 2, reading and playing on my phone till sunrise. I dont want to go to bed at 3/4am just to be able to wake up when everyone else does -.-

My days are still energetic (another side effect) but I will probably get fatigued at some point if this continues....atleast thats my worry

/gief back my sleep :-\

I don't know how old you are but 7 hours is typical for an adult. Excessive sleeping, and 9 hours is a lot, although not really excessive, is a sign of depression. So let me ask you, do you feel rested after sleep? Were you depressed before?

Perhaps it's just that HRT is making you less unhappy so you need less sleep.
April 22, 2015, the day of my first face to face pass in gender neutral clothes and no makeup. It may be months to the next one, but I'm good with that!

Being transgender is just a phase. It hardly ever starts before conception and always ends promptly at death.

They say the light at the end of the tunnel is an oncoming train. I say, climb aboard!

I have nights like those every once in a while. I woke up because my dreams were so much more intense, well, that and Spiro bladder. I would get two hour sleep periods wake up after a dream and then sleep another couple. It repeated for a while. I had just been started on Progesterone at the time. I cannot tell you if that was what is was causing it though.  :)

I turned 30 last week. I was diagnosed with dysthymia (less severe but longer-lasting symptoms than depression) at about the same time I came out with being trans, which was about 12 years ago. I guess that played a role in my long sleeping nights...just didnt feel like getting up very often. Ive had real depressions before I came out so while the last 10-12 years were a total drag it was still a lot better than before the coming out.

I feel pretty rested when I get to wake up and I am totally not a morning person. So maybe its the HRT like you suggested, it crossed my mind aswell

Jessica: I am on Estradiol and Cypro...no idea if the side effects overlap. Ill ask the endo next time :)
