Taking After Your Mother a Good Thing for HRT?

TheQuestion

So, I'd say that I have my fathers hands and skeleton (though my mother has pretty big hands), veins too (ughh), just a little more slight and about an inch shorter (mother is 5'8", so pretty tall too for a woman) than him; but my face is near identical to my mothers, just masculinized a little bit.  We have the same nose and similar features and she is pretty lanky, like myself.  Also have the same type of legs and skin coloring, hair color too.  I'd say that I take more after her and my sister more after my father.  I'm wondering if that may be a good sign as far as HRT is concerned.  Hoping I have a lot of estrogen receptors or am predisposed to receiving E well.  I also kept my baby fat for a long time, not as long as some people maybe, but longer than most.  I really only lost it a couple years ago and it was because I was trying to burn fat when I really didn't need to.

Anyone else ever think of these things?  I'm hoping, but it's probably nothing worth while as far as discussion goes...

I guess the same question applies for FTM's who take more after their fathers

Probably a good thing, if there are traits of hers that you're hoping to develop and which are likely linked to the way you take after her. The thing is, we never know what's in our genes - I look like my mother a lot in the facial bone structure and curly hair, but apparently inherited my paternal grandmother's figure (which IS a good thing for me!). Looking a lot like her now does at least bode well for HRT feminizing your face. :)

I don't think it says much about estrogen receptors either way, as I don't think these traits *are* linked to estrogen per se. After all, your sister takes after your father and yet presumably did fine in the estrogen receptors department... really, the only way to find that out is to go on HRT and see. Still, it's a good start physically!

Illuminess

People have always told me I look like my mother. I honestly can see both parents in my face rather than one more than the other. We're already a lot alike, and have a very strong relationship. She's a bit more neurotic, though. :P I think once everything gets rolling we won't have a whole new dynamic; it'll just be enhanced a bit. I mean, our chemistry (in retrospect) has always been very mother/daughter except for the usual lady business. We talk about clothes and shoes, discuss the latest American Idol contestants (even though I really dislike that show), gossip and complain about the impossible people in our lives, etc. I guess it's a good thing for HRT if your mom isn't a lunatic. :P Then I'd be glad NOT to take after her.
