I don't know about anyone else here, but I am rather frustrated with my state. I currently reside in Virginia but I was born in Ohio. I got my name and gender changed on everything except my birth certificate. My military records won't change my gender because I need to have my birth certificate changed, but the state of ohio doesn't allow for this even if you have had GRS (I haven't yet gotten this yet). I just don't know what to do at this point....even my social security number reflects that I am female and yet the military won't update my records. I am medically retired as of 28JUL14...I just feel like I have sacrificed enough and earned this...

Sorry to hear, maybe they will loosen it up here soon on getting it changed with a doctors letter.

But feel thankful you can change, some states say NOPE.

Unfortunately that's what I found when researching Ohio. I'm from Ohio myself. There are a couple of possibilities. Maybe you can convince the military to accept you without the birth certificate change. Or we sue Ohio and transgender becomes the next gay marriage issue.

Something needs to be done with ohio.  I'm in the same boat in regards to the birth certificate.  Passport is an easy change, drivers license is also easy.  Out here in california all you really need is a note from your doctor and they will switch it.  It's just frustrating.  I've wrote to state assembly reps from where I grew up even and it just really sucks the difference between california and ohio.  I'm lucky I don't necessarily need the birth certificate change but to me its like the biggest document to see changed.

I now have a tremendous appreciation that my mother chose to have me in Wheeling, West Virginia instead of in Martins Ferry, Ohio. :P
