T-Blockers such as spironolactone, in the absence of exogenous estrogens, are said to result in a reduction of metabolism rate, and are well known to result in loss of comparative strength. When estrogens are added to the mix, does the metabolism kick back up a notch, or is it further reduced? In other words, with which regimen is it easier to control weight: only T-Blockers, or T-Blockers with E?

Does anyone have personal experience with this that they can relate? Thanks!

T-blockers for a couple of months with no E:  Could control eating with no problems whatsoever.

T-blockers + E:  Turned into a massive pig overnight, can't stop guzzling food.

For now, the increased appetite is welcome; I was thin before I started E and could use a few more pounds in the right places.  But it's showing no sign of stabilizing, and if unchecked I can easily munch my way through disgraceful amounts of food.

Gone are the days where I could happily eat next to nothing and never think about food once.  Now, I can barely pass a McDonald's without stopping in for a sandwich or two.

I went on E and T-blockers at the same time (not sure if that's weird...), but I didn't really notice a difference in how often or how much I ate... and I actually ended up losing weight. I think it just changes drastically for each person.

For me I've been slowly gaining weight since I started hrt. I went from never being able to gain weight to gaining over 25lbs in the course of two years, thankfully it went to the right areas.

As of the date of this posting I'm exactly nine months on E and a few days short of 11 months T-blocker.

It took awhile, but after being on both for much of a year my metabolism slowed a bit and I'm carrying about 3 to 8 extra pounds depending on the day.  I could never gain weight before and had a rock-stable number for over a decade.  Now it fluctuates.  Although I'm quite thin I'd started to put a small layer of fat on my belly prior to HRT.  Now that I've been on HRT I've found, annoyingly, that I'm putting on more belly fat without my weight going up.  In other words, it's migrating to my belly and not helping feminize my figure much yet.  At least a little is going to the lower part of my bum and filling it out slightly.  All of the body changes feel like they are taking an eternity, although this is probably because my dosages are still being ramped up progressively.  I have thankfully noticed that the muscle and fat deposits in my face have changed faster and for the better.

I've been eating more every day since HRT mainly because I felt better in my gut enough to eat normally again, which I hadn't been comfortable doing for years prior.  I would say now that I'm not exactly more hungry, but that I can tell properly when I am and feel like responding to it.  Before HRT my hunger was masked by morning nausea and a rotten anxious stomach all day.  If anything I am eating a bit more and with less caution about fat content because I was hoping it would build in a feminine pattern.  Perhaps I started a little to early on this plan for it to land in the right places.  In the end I don't mind a little more padding though after a lifetime of being teased about being too thin.  Weight gain now has something of a novelty factor to me.
