Never hurts to be honest with your doctor.

They are smarter then you think sometimes

Do you have a gender therapist? Having a letter from a therapist helps the Doctor help you. HTR has significant effects such as becoming sterile and growing boobs; put yourself in the Doctors shoes. How does he know your need for HRT? Is he/she in jeopardy of a lawsuit if he prescribes on your word alone?

I am not saying do not confide in your Doctor, you should, but he/she may request a letter from your gender therapist.

Depending on which part of the world you are in, it is the first medical step for most of us. If you are lucky to have an understanding doctor that understands about gender dysphoria, they can help set you on the correct path with referals to therapists and endicrinologists and the like. This is the bit to get right as soon as possible to avoid any unnecessary delays. If she puts up any resistance do not delay and switch doctors as soon as you can. The very best of luck to you.
