Hey everyone, I'm new here so nice to meet you all!!. I have a question about voice, since i started my journey i have tried to talk in a higher voice, watching videos and listening to other females and trying to emulate it. At first i was starting to get it and then about a year in i lost all confidence and was never able to do it to the level i knew that i could...for some reason.....i have really gained confidence back, i even lost it around people i was comfortable with <.<.....as of late i have started feeling a little more comfy again except i can't seem to progress my voice beyond a certain point and I'm concerned i may have strained for so long to do it that i am damaging my vocal chords....i am unsure what to do....has anyone ever come across this issue? if so how do you remedy it i mean....would talking in private, when i am on my own, in my original voice help and allow my vocal chords to "reset" if you like?...i am really unsure what to do. My GT seems to think i sound fine and do not need any vocal coaching but I'm not convinced...any advice?

I have been practicing for 1.5 years. I am going to set an appointment with a voice coach if for anything else feedback.

I've been trying to practice on my own but it is very spotty and I never know if I will get it past my lips the way I want or not. Super hard around family. It's encouraging to know that other people are getting along with out having to go to coaching for it.

I still talk in my natural voice. I can raise the pitch but I feel like a phony.

Illuminess

The main obstacle for me is getting rid of the chest buzz. My voice goes only as deep as I want it to, but my usual speaking voice will still clock me. I'm not looking to sound super feminine, though; just enough that it works in my favour. That's really the best place to aim for, because we unfortunately don't have the FTM advantage. Our pipes are already expanded, and there's no reversing it. One of the common tips in finding your voice is to open your mouth and go "ahhh" in the key of C, and read aloud some things while doing that. Then start to soften things up and try fluctuating the sound in a regular talky way. Straining into falsetto could be damaging for some people.
