          right now I have a doubt with the orchidectomy, I'm planning to have my SRS but this will happen in some years (lack of money  ) but i was considering the orchidectomy meanwhile I have enough money for my SRS, ok... but then I heard rumors like.

If you had an orchidectomy first you wont have enough skin to perform the SRS,
the SRS will be more difficult because they need to have the entire "part"

are these rumors true? I'm considering the orchidectomy in order to reduce the mount of medicine the HRT needs, I have at this point 4 years on HRT and I'm worry about all the meds I had been taking for all these years... my endocrinologist said that if I have a healthy life it won't be an issue but I'm not sure about it... so what do you think? 

I really would like to heard your comments about it.

The surgeon I am in touch with says these are not myths at all. I would wait for SRS if I were you. 

I that that was just removing the balls. Does the skin actually shrink? I would have though it wouldn't make any difference.

yes. It can be more than you think. It's like someone who diets. When they eat less the stomach actually shrinks until the diet is over or a big meal consumed. Some principal. If there is nothing in there the skin will contract because nothing is keeping it's stretched out.

I can tell you from personal experience that the skin shrinks like a frightened turtle.

I couldn't afford GRS in a million years, so I had the orchi and that's that.

I could have sworn I saw someone on this forum claim their surgeon said they could still have SRS after having the orchidectomy... Maybe it depends on the surgeon? I would definitely ask your surgeon themself to get a definitive answer.

I know this would make the procedure more expensive which kinda defeats the point, but are there not testicle implants for FTMs and men who have lost one but want to keep their appearance? I mean if there were silicone testicles then wouldn't that prevent the scrotal skin from shrinking and keep it for use in a later SRS?

My understanding is that you can always have SRS, the problem comes into the fact that if you don't have enough skin to use, they might have to take skin off of your thigh or do a sigmoid colon vaginplasty which not everyone does

Yeah, I've heard a few people mention that here on the forums and in the chat. I never bothered with that, myself.

This is a Dr. Brassard observation.

1 being i was on hormones for 13 years before my GRS he said he might have to use donor thigh skin for enough material to make the neo vagina. It is taken from the inside of the inner thigh. I did not needed but i told them before to do what ever was needed.

2 when i was there in January to visit one of the girls there, young only 24 ish had a orchie done when she turned 20. Her GCS was done with the thigh skin donor site. She had 2 very large sections removed from one of her legs. So now not only having GCS scars she had these 2 very large scars that would be on her inner thighs. (almost maybe just a little smaller then the ones they harvest for the transmen when they have there phallo.)

So if you can wait i would do it. If its due to a medical condition the i would have it done before hand.

The biggest advantages of orchi come from the reduced cost a damage caused by the higher hormone and blockers required with the evil twin hanging there.. Also of all the GRS surgeons I spoke to only one said he would not do SRS if orchi has already been done all the others simply said that it will be mor expensive as donor material might need to be harvested. That said some of the surgeons have recommended stretching the skin on a daily basis may not require other doner material.

I think I will get one because of the pains I get and that I am a DES victim, so get cysts and potential cancer risks.  I suspect I can handle being non op... or wait for better tech.

   I am with Emmaline on this as I am also a DES son and in my 60s .My biggest cyst is 5.2 cm with smaller ones present and had pain since my late teens.Have been to the doctors many times about this ,they would never do anything, said we think yada yada! Yes it is practicing medicine. Finally found out AFTER hitting the wall what they were caused by. Am now waiting for an ORCHI by the VA.

What really hurts is paying specialists to tell you 'non specific orchitis'- which basically means 'we don't know'- 'here is our bill'.  That's the real kick in the nuts.

Any horizon on grown grafts for labioplasty?  I really don't want to hold off orchi and implants would feel like a step back.

Yes the scrotal skin will shrink, but how much of a negative that will be depends on how much other skin in the area you have. Not being circumcised is an advantage, and likewise if your penis is longer than average.

Would.it be possible to get this procedure and get implants to replace them to prevent the skin from shrinking until you get your SRS?

Sorry that was me who said there was enough material to form a vagina after an orchie was done.
I saw this on the TSRoadmap web site and on the GENDY conference in 1996.
Most other web sites state that there will NOT be enough material for a vagina after an orchie was done.

As i said in my earlier post, it will all come down to what the doctor says when you have your consultation.

Everyone is there own depends on if the surgeon that does your orchie did the least amount of damage and what they removed.

So again the best advice is if you are planning on having GCS stay away from the orchie, if you think GCS is 10 years down the road or never then do the Orchie.

There are always methods to harvest skin for the neo vagina lining, just they like to use the scrotal skin being it already holds some elasticity.
