Today was a little step forward.  I walked into a shop alone, unashamedly browsed the women's section, bought six tops, a cuff bracelet and a scarf, got staff to look up a missing tag, paid and left.  Totally in boy mode (well, andro- girls jeans- neutral jumper).

I am still alive!

Took me a while to realise most shops don't care what you are buying as long as you are buying from them! And believe me, once you go shopping in girl mode you'll have awesome fun buying all sorts of stuff.

Lol.  I was hoping you will drag me out shopping Grace .

It's certainly more fun with two. Your lady won't get jelly?

This is very true, in boy or girl mode. Some are even friendly and chatty!

Nah, we do heaps of shopping together.

It does get easier with each purchase. I remember buying my first pair of pantyhose at age 16, almost like it was yesterday. I still get a thrill, and thankfully very little anxiety when I peruse all the lovely colors of lipstick to choose from, especially in boy mode. After the first few purchases, you realize, nobody really cares what you are looking at or buying.

I remember my first attempt at buying panties. I was 14 and rode my bike to the store to buy a three pack of pink cotton bikini panties. I was so nervous that I passed out on the sidewalk in front of the store. 32 years later I can still see the scar on my chin from hitting the sidewalk.

It took some time to feel "normal" in a shop before I was full time. In fact, it was a a self-imposed goal for me: to go to a shop and not feel I was seen as anything but female.

The moment that hit was when I went into an upscale shop which was having a sale. I pulled something off a rack and held it up. A saleswoman was nearby and asked "would you like to try that on, ma'am?" I did, and it was the first time I had tried on a dress in a shop.

I had gone in to buy that particular dress anyway, but I probably would have just to thank her.

I need to pay a visit to Claire's en femme.

I still get nervous when I go to shop, even though I've been shopping for myself and my wife for several years now. But I've found that nobody really cares, all they want is money, and I'm happy to oblige.

The first time I bought a dress in the 60's I told the cashier it was for my sister. She replied that she wished had a brother like me.
