Mark Farrandino, treasurer of Colorado's Democratic Party, became the state's first gay male lawmaker this week as a panel of top Democrats chose him to fill a vacancy in the state House of Representatives, the Rocky Mountain News reported.

I don't think anyone else here reading this can possible appreciate what a huge milestone this is, unless you happened to be living in Colorado during Amendment 2.

Less than 10 years ago, just being out and queer was a deathwish. But now?  Wow.  I am really impressed.
