I only just started therapy on Thursday, and it's so agonizing to wait for even the next appointment, let alone getting on HRT which I wish I could just fast forward to. So I started looking into Laser Hair Removal because I know I could get that done before I'm on HRT. Mostly I've been looking at Groupon because there are a lot of deals on hair removal in my area. I'm just not sure if this is the right way to go about it. What's the best way to remove hair? Will hormones slow the growth of my body hair? Should I just get my face done and shave the rest of my body? I'm a really hairy person, so I'm afraid I'll be shaving like every day.

I found a deal that kind of seems too good to be true.

Apparently I can get full face, full legs, and chest and stomach done for $699

It's worded like: "$699 for six treatments on four areas total, including up to two large areas" So could that mean 6 treatments spread out over all of these areas? I'm assuming it means 6 treatments per area, but again, that seems too good to be true to me. Also, would 6 treatments even be enough for those areas?

The first thing to remember is that laser is not considered permanent removal of hair only a reduction - Given that, the main question is what color are your hair and skin pigmentation - If you answer black hair and fair skin you will win a kewpie doll as laser is most effective on that combination - Grey, white, blonde, lighter reds and browns? - Forget about it - They laugh in the face of laser - The only true means to permanently remove hair is electrolysis - lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of electrolysis

be well

Did I mention "lots" enough guys????

My hair actually is very dark and I'm white, didn't get much of a tan this summer either. I'm kind of okay if it's just reduction. If it reduces it to the point where I can just shave as often as a cis girl that'd be fine. I'll look into electrolysis though.

Apparently there is an electrolysis center (Mishael's Electrolysis Center) that specializes in transwomen that people travel pretty far distances for only 36 minutes from my house. I haven't found any information on how much it would cost though.

lol you sound a lot like me about wanting to "fast forward" --- it is so agonizing between appointments, and after two months finally got my letter for HRT.  I am starting laser hair removal this next week.  They charge $250 for an appointment, however they got a special right now where I go to -- buy any more than 4 sessions it is half off, and I got a coupon for first session free... so I am looking around $625 for 6 sessions.  Everyone I've talked to online, offline, here, there, every where says it should be gone within 4 to 6 sessions so I'll see.

And yes I got dark hair, fair skin... but I don't got much of an area, thankfully, and it doesn't grow thick.  I am thinking laser is the best route to go.  I don't mind shaving daily but it's the 5 o'clock shadow that's REALLY annoying me -- just like dirty underwear, it has to go.
