The nation's health law opens the door for transgender people to gain coverage for gender reassignment surgeries they previously could not afford.

As anything it will be hoops to jump, and in network doctors only.

Will help somewhat in out of network doctors but how much.

Keep saving your pennies.

I think it will take a few years for things with law suites filed before it gets fair.

Way better then 10 years ago. I got nada help from mine.

The title is terribly misleading. Obamacare does NOT cover transgender surgeries. California made it mandatory, most states it is still not covered.

Thank you for the clarification. Hopefully by the time I'm ready for my surgery things will be easier.

More states are going that route but I think it is only 5 at the moment. I agree in hoping that changes. Some cities have changed it for their public workers.

As far as I can find it is California, Colorado, Connecticut, Vermont and Oregon.

I am on medicare. I live in california but I am not on medical. I am ready for SRS. If someone in california knows what I should do please post. Thank You.

So that'd be a no.. Also, Vermont is a state?? I'm not very good at geography but I think I would of recognized that... :p
