I just had the strangest dream

Does anyone believe in dreams? Do they have any real life meaning, warnings, or connections or are they just a conception of things on your mind? With my chores done, I decided to take a little nap. I had the strangest dream I dreamt I was standing next to a bridge, a very big bridge. I looked up into the sky and saw a airplane that was trailing smoke, I knew it was in trouble. I starting running and screaming...SAM, SAM GET IT IN THE AIR! GET IT IN THE AIR! I ran to a twin rotor helicopter with the rotors spinning, I jumped in the open side door and held on screaming...SAM GET IT UP GO GO GO. We followed the smoke trail over the river to the other side of the bridge, there in the water was the plane, I could see it lying under water. We hovered just over the bridge about to land on the bridge, I started screaming again...SAM GET ME DOWN THERE, GET ME DOWN THERE! Up we went, we hovered just over the plane, a little too high to make a jump and live, I screamed SAM, GET ME LOWER, LOWER. My safety harness was getting in the way. I un-buckled it and hanging in the doorway waiting for the helicopter to get down lower...I couldn't wait any more, I started to jump know I might not make it, there were people's voices yelling behind me, NO, NO, NO. As I started to jump, I woke up trembling and crying. BTW I have no idea who Sam is. Could this be th leap I am about to take praying on my mind?

I think it depends on the dream. Sometimes, they help us sort out what has been on our minds. Sometimes, they are about what we're afraid of. Sometimes, they're just stories. As for yours, what do you think it means? To me, it sounds like you were trying to save people and were upset that you couldn't even though you tried your best. Does that sound right?

Hmm I don't know...I have been under a tremendous amount of stress for the past couple of months, crying almost constantly, on the verge of a complete breakdown (again, had one back in winter of 89/90) I am on the verge of losing my job, my wife of 21 years filed for divorce, we are losing our home and should be homeless right around Christmas, and to top it off...I can no longer control this gender dysphoria-transexual-gay desires, urges, and feelings that have been suppressed for 50 years are starting to take over my life. I am scheduled for my first therapy session this coming Wednesday and scheduled to start HRT in November. So I am wondering if all this is about the leap coming up? Am I about to leap off a cliff (or helicopter) without a parachute or safety harness? Will I make the mistake of my life? too many what ifs'...too much stress...Am I so overwhelmed that issues are starting to manifest in dreams?

I guess the question to ask is, what does the plane represent for you specifically. What was the fear that had you dashing to the rescue. What did the fact that you had arrived at the scene and the plane had crashed mean to you. If you can remember into it, what were the emotions it was stirring? Dreams deal very strongly with metaphor, they often mean something in a representational way only.

I am not sure what they represent. I start seeing a therapist on Wednesday, I think I will write this down and bring it with me.
