I know this is dependent on your procedures done. But I was hoping people could give me a ballpark figure! I'm expecting to have:

-Chin recontouring w/ chin implant
-Trach shave
-Upper lift lip
-Rhinoplasty
-Maybe forehead contouring

And I know no one here is a doctor, but how much is too much time under?  I only know of one FFS case where the patient died. But she seems to have died in recovery due to a breathing tube mishap. I could be wrong. But surprisingly there arent much known instances of death from FFS considering how intense the surgery and healing period is.

well I am not a Dr, but my last surgery lasted 8 1/2 hours, and they didnt do one of the procedure because they wanted to stop the anesthesia so Im
guessing beyond 9 hours would be dangerous

Hard to tell but I had more extensive surgery on 2 occasions and the longest op was just under 6 hours so my guess is around 5 hours.  Quick call to your surgeon will give you useful info rather than our best guess! :)

Safe travels

I had complete FFS and BA.  It was an extensive operation.  From the first demerol push, when I lost consciousness,  through to recovery was 10 hours.  The actual time I was under general anesthesia was a bit less than that but not much.

During that time you must be attended by an anesthesiologist or physician.  Use of GA shuts down respiration and major body systems like digestion.  Only a physician would be able to give you a definitive answer because too much rests on the patients overall health.

When I had SRS, I was under for about six hours.

It is the surgical team's responsibility to determine the total GA time based on patient health and the number of procedures to be performed.  Generally it's better to do as much as possible in one session rather than endure the stress of multiple operations under GA.

My surgery lasted 7hr. Compared to srs which lasted 6hr FFS is far less critical in my personal experience.
