Hi All!  I have been lurking here reading posts for most of the year, but just registered this month.  First, I just want to mention what an asset this site is to the community!  If only such information and resources would have been available in the 70's!  What a different life I would have led...

Anyway, I have a question.  I had a total hysterectomy (total meaning ovaries too) about 23 years ago.  I have had zero hormone replacements since then.  Well, I take that back - immediately after the hysterectomy I did use a cream for about two months, but my insurance didn't pay for it so I just quit and never looked back.  My question is - how do you think this might effect my HRT should I start T?

I have no doubt that my hormones (or should I say the lack there of) are completely out of wack.  But, living here in a very rural area in MO, not one single doctor has ever taken the time to address the issue!

I'm well past menopause, and I started T around six months ago. My T level is pretty high on a very low dose, and my doc thinks that does have something to do with the lack of ovarian action. (As she charmingly put it, "Your ovaries are sleeping.")

T-related changes are happening pretty slowly, and that's probably an age thing -- but they are happening, just slower than they would for a 22-year-old.

My doctor also says there's just not enough data on what happens with people who transition later in life to make predictions one way or another...

Oh, I do hear that, brother... I get pretty envious of "these kids nowadays."  They have no idea how lucky they are.

They really don't !  On one hand, I am really happy for them.  On the other hand I must admit I'm a little green!  -Green with envy-

It's a good question. Actually t is likely to work BETTER in that you don't have estrogen to kick around anymore.
There are some possible problems with infections similar to FAAB persons in menopause, but I'm not aware of how T is involved with this anymore.

On a different note. I've been out to town and all but I do co-mod a trans group for guys over 40 on FB if you are interested. We can tackle subjects like this and others. If you want the name of the group just PM me. One little note. This is NOT a secret group but a closed one. That is you can search for it (and possibly find it, it has a little different name). Also the names of members can be seen by others who know to look for the group. So that is a concern for some guys who are super stealth.

As a late in life MTF, all I can say is AMEN Brother!  This something I really wanted to do thirty five years ago, but life and no internet got in the way.  I can say that I've been blessed in that I moved from southwest Texas 6 years ago to the Pacific Northwest and it has been like leaving the 20th century for the 21st century, although I still live in a vary 'remote' part of the country.

I'm happy for them. I know a couple children. Though it will be rough for them in certain ways which I did not experience, they have an amazing life in front of them esp. since these are the kids who are accepted (as all kids should be).

I'm happy to live in Albuquerque which seems to be very together trans wise. No one I know even casually actually cares. I've had high school educated people go from calling me ma'am to calling me sir.

I still miss ABQ every day! My partner is from there and I lived there for several years.  We moved back here after my father passed away with the intentions of convincing my mother to move back to ABQ with us - that was in 1993!!  Since then I have felt hopelessly trapped here in MO!  We still try to go back to visit every chance we get.  My son and Granddaughter live in Alamogordo.
