I think he means basketball I'd have to see though.

Sorry, I should have clarified. Yeah, I was thinking basketball. I hear ya on wanting to play sports, I was really into playing basketball and wrestling when I was in high school. I wasn't fast enough to play basketball for the school team, but I did enjoy it. It couldn't hurt to ask, since your school seems pretty cool with everything.

Well I am 5'4 but I know 2 guys who were on the football team who were my exact height and on the basketball team.
That's really cool, the only guys I've seen playing basketball have been really tall. I think I've seen a few guys who were like 5'6" or 5'7" playing football, 5'4" is even cooler to hear. I think the only tall person's sport I've ever seen people about 5'4" or shorter in is volleyball, but that's because there's a position that's better for short people than tall people, so it's awesome that there are short guys playing those sports.

Yes, I think title 9 makes it so you would have be able to qualify for football or any other thing you are able to play. Of course teams and parents might not see it this way. :}  Being an adult and seeing the grim, I should say football is a horrible sport which causes a lot of brain injuries. I would not allow a cis boy son of mine (if I had one) to play. I'd rather they box tbh. However, I realize that might not be the most empathetic thing to say. So I'll also say it sucks! You could try working for another sport which might help you out a bit.

I know a trans boy who got on boy's soccer by fighting the local regs for the club. So it is doable (fighting these things). Might be more challenging than the sport though.

I always wanted to play baseball. Everyone told me to try out for the softball team, and I was like no way! Sports seasons can totally suck for dysphoria & such.

Geez I wish I could play football. Except I'm not even on T or anything yet :( ugh. I'm good on my feet and can catch and hold a football like my life depended on it and I'm a sprinter so probably wide receiver is my position of choice. It sucks a lot cause I play football with the guys in gym class and we tackle and everything. They know I'm small but sturdy and I can get your butt on the ground and don't mind being knocked around. The guys know me and they know how I feel so they normally don't let "girls" play but I've been considered one of them since early last year so at least I get a taste of football in gym class. The best advice I can suggest: play football with actual football players at the very least. It's not the same but it's something you know?

If you are legally female and there is no women's football team at your school, the school has to allow you to try out for the men's football team, IF the school is one that receives federal financial assistance (all public and charter schools.  I don't know if private schools get any federal funding).

My understanding of Title IX as well. It is doable and has been done (afaik only public schools and not sure re Brandon here). I think you'd have to start up way earlier than the season and work your butt off (which you seem way capable of). Otoh, I believe that just because this is the law doesn't mean they wouldn't need to be forced to follow it. I think you'd have a harder time fighting this than actually playing tbh. But it has been done. Playing as a male in a sport that has a female team is harder especially without legal status. There are states that will allow this but I didn't get the idea that you were in one of these (I think basically 18 states have some kind of laws on gender identity discrimination. But to what extent they have to do with public schools is up to question according to a lawyer friend of mine.) Good luck to you. I recall standing around watching the Little League team when I was 10ish (had my pants pinned up like a fly).

If only I knew this sooner! I'd pass this along to other transgenders if I come across someone like me. I say this because football season has begun and tryouts are over. You start early. But it's never too late for wrestling. Trust me if there's one thing I'm good at it's hurting you and getting out of tight situations, literally. I don't know how my body does it but I become amazingly flexible when pinned down and trying to escape! :D Otherwise I have a steel hand grip and, as my friends said, die and still hold on like it's nothing

There have been a couple of females in my area who have wrestled with the boys since there isn't a female team.  They have done really well.  I believe there have been some success nationally, as well, for reasons you have mentioned (flexibility).  Regardless if you identify male or female, the reality is that they can't stop a female bodied person from trying out with the men's team, if there is no female team.  Good luck to you!

Ugh I suck at basketball. My mom was good at it and probably cause shes an almost 6ft giant . Nah I got my dads size and frame. Only thing I'm good at in basketball is moving the ball across the court super fast.
Now soccer is another sport I am good at, only as goalie however! I can easy block and kick far across the field. Now according to some guys I talk to, the only reason I am good at goalie is because "you don't like balls getting in your net."  :D Made me laugh a lot when they announced that to me, I couldn't help it.
Now on to the actual topic, my school recently came up with a powderpuff thing. Now while EVERYONE is telling me to go out for it, I can't. I'm sorry but no way it hell am I playing on it if tackling is NOT allowed. Come on! I love to tackle, I ain't strong, but I grab legs and hold. I can't do that! I also get aggressive so tackling is a great release. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad there's powderpuff and all cause that means there's a girls team at the high school, but no tackling is simply a no go. I'm too aggressive for powderpuff.

Yea basketball and football have been my game since I was alittle boy my dad use to take me out at like 5 years old and teach me how to play. They have a powder puff team at my school to but theres no way in hell a girl would want me to play powderpuff not even my school in general, Its not only that I am to agressive its also because I am built up muscle wise and could hurt you if you got me to that level.

Exactly what I'm saying. My friend just texted me, 'you should join! We need someone strong ;) please' I text back, 'wanna see a girl die?'
Literally, WAY too aggreesive someone WILL get killed or hurt. I played with guys too much to know how to cool back and not be rough.

No girl has ever asked me there too scared, plus they know I am a boy. Lol besides I hate flag football, everytime me and the guys play in gym class girls get scared because it gets ruff. I remember I scored all the touch downs practically for gym class we one almost every game I got hops and everything I can get up there and intercept you, I did that on a girl once and she ran and let me get it.

Another option might be for you to find some sort of co-ed league outside of school or all male if you prefer. I just remember not recognizing my trans identity in junior/high school but being really uncomfortable in all female social settings so rather than try out for my home school's ladies soccer team (I went to a charter school that didn't allow UIL sports) I just went the co-ed route and still had a blast.
