Hello all,

In the chat room a couple of days I saw a couple of peeps discussing calorie intake and what-not... Which made me start investigating online... Bad idea! Now I'm even more confused, haha...

Do I need a certain amount of calorie intake in order to support HRT? I never really discussed this with my endo, I mean the only tip he gave me was to stop doing drugs (alcohol, tobacco....) and to do exercise.

If the answer is no, then ignore the rest... If it's yes, then here's my issue:

I'm in my perfect weight, I love where I am and I don't wanna go up or down. (1.70m and 56kg ... 5'7" and 123lbs.... I think, I never really use imperial.) I really DO NOT want to gain weight, I really don't.... And the fact is I struggle a lot when it comes to eating, I mean it's not rare to go a day without food, and even when I do eat I barely reach 500cals a day.

How on Earth do I reach 1.5k? Seriously... I'd need to be eating all day in order to do that. I'm not bulimic or anything but I do vomit after eating anything over half a plate (sometimes not even that) coz my body plain out rejects it.... I've always loved this facet as it's helped me to be among the thinnest of my friends and get me enough attention from the opposite (and same at times) sex.. But like I said before, it's not by choice, it just happens, and it's not bullimia as I don't cause it myself and I like being my weight.... But if I really have to eat more, how on Earth do I do it?

Eating different foods is out of the question, if I eat I eat what I can find, and living alone, unemployed my selection isn't that vast (Unless I get lucky and the supermarket throws out food I like for once...)  Maybe there's some kind of way to make yourself hungry and to simply hold back the urges to let it all out... Once again, if calorie intake is not as important for me then this isn't a problem and I don't mind continuing like this.

Any advice?

Thanks!!

i have no advice regarding what might be different when on HRT, but are you sure you are calculating your caloric intake properly?  Because if so, you seem to be eating an incredibly small amount of food each day.  I would even say this is pretty dangerous, but hey i'm no doctor.

All I know is "reaching" a certain number of calories is easy for most people, and usually people have trouble staying at a certain number of calories and not exceeding a certain number.  But if your goal is to reach a certain number because you are not eating enough, i would normally advise looking toward calorie dense foods, dressing foods in olive oil, being liberal with cheese, mayo, sour cream, and other calorie rich things.  but you said your body rejects extra food and you vomit it out.......

which does not sound very normal to me.  and i would highly suggest you see some sort of doctor about that to see just exactly what might be causing this.

I wouldn't worry about it. When you start HRT your body will start putting on fat no its own including water retention so you can continue eating as you will do now and it will simply distribute it according to the female pattern. Remember that not all weight is fat, muscle and bone but a lot of it is also actually water and thus in that sense completely harmless. If you are worried about it I would recommend start doing moderate workout. Cardio is good for women who want to retain a feminine figure but not gain muscle.
Come watch with me as our world burns.

You are right.... I got confused with kcal and cal, not to mention that I had spent a while reading things wrong apparently... Still eating 'way' under at times, others not so much, I guess the fact it's summer and stress is also affecting it. And yeah, I've got an appointment tomorrow with the docs so I shall ash her then... Thank you! :)

The funny thing is I've actually lost weight, not gained it and speaking of water.... I find myself drinking a LOT more than before, hehe... Yup I'm aiming to start doing 30 minute walks a day and little by little go increasing them, it'll help in learning how to breathe properly too :) I can feel it already hehe...
