Hiya people,

I am about to book in for FFS with Dr. Bart. I am having trach, nose, jaw and chin done.

I was wondering how long I should expect to be off work for?

Thank you! :-)

I'm my case, of the three weeks I'll be in Thailand I will rest for...

15 days, from the time the surgery is over to the day I take the plane back in the morning. I originally picked 21 days of vacation, but removing travelling days and one last day to organise stuff before going back to work, it's 18 days in Bangkok.
Meaning that I will be back in the office 17 days post-op. Forehead, nose, trach shave, lip lift. eyelids. If the swelling doesn't go down quick, I will have to answer a lot of questions...

Thanks Julia. :-)

I will have three weeks off work immediately before hand, then my surgery. The people at my main job know that I am trans as I transitioned in position, so I am not too worried about that. I have a couple of other jobs though that probably require that I don't look like I just had FFS.

Hi Kira,
I did my FFS with Dr VdV and my second surgery (lower face) was very like what you are planning to do except that you should replace the trach shave with a MACS facelift and I also had a couple of revisions to the previous year's upper face FFS. . I was back at work 3 weeks later but just about presentable. However, if you are not doing anything around the eyes, I'd guess that you should be pretty OK after 3 weeks.
Wishing you all the best!

Do you know how long he will want me to stay in Belgium for? Even a guess.  Thanks! :-) x

I would agree with Donna. 3 weeks after surgery to be presentable enough. It's been 2 weeks today for me and I still need a few days to look presentable enough. He recommends to wear the headband to pressure chin and jaw for 3 weeks anyway. In regards to your stay in Belgium, he will want to see you 8 days after surgery for your last postop. I spent a total of 12 days there, but all this info will be sent to you by his staff with exact dates and times :)
