Dude, you are pre T? Holy fudge. I say pass.
I would have gendered you as male, somewhere in the later teens early twenties.
If that's you pre T, you are going to be just as lucky as Ryan.

Good luck with your appointments and such, I know how much of a pain it can be to wait for everything. How things are set up where I live, I will at least have to wait three more months before I get T and I have been waiting a while already.

Also cheers for the age guess, ha, i wish i was still late teens, im 26 now though.

Ummm, ok, here I go. I'm pre-everything and I don't pass really but I thought I'd show my face anyway  ;D.

Edit: I decided to take the pics down, sorry about that. I'm just too self-conscious and dysphoric to handle this well...

Adrian are think there are definitely some masculine/male cues with you.  I like the straight hair the best, but the curly is ok too.  What I am trying to determine is if the first picture is a different pair of glasses than the bottom two.  For some reason on the bottom two pics they seem to really make your face more masculine, but not the first picture.  So, I think either full on curly hair (pic #2)or straight hair (#3).  The first picture seems like your hair is in between those styles and reads as more feminine, somehow.  However, you are also smiling which our unconscious tends to read more as female.

Brett, thank you for your feedback :) It's the same glasses in all of the pics. I know what you mean though - I too think I look more feminine in the first pic. It probably is the smile. Not badass enough >:D

I'm not sure yet where I'm going with my hair. I had it shorter on top and a bit longer in the back when I was not trying to go for a masculine look (it was a lot cooler than it sounds now, not a mullet! :D). Now I'm slowly going shorter on the sides and back, but longer on top. I have a very cool hairdresser, we'll eventually figure something out together I think.

I won't be on t anytime soon (if ever), so yeah, I just have to deal with being me and looking the way I do. Sigh...

Yea i have to agree with Brett, first picture is more feminine than the other two, Im not quite sure if its the smile, or the stance in the picture.

Out of the other two, the picture with the straight hair definitely looks more masculine, so maybe go with a short straight style for your next cut bro.

Ephemeral

Look pretty feminine in all of them. Reminds of Swedish politican Gudrun Schyman: https://www.google.se/search?q=gudrun+schyman&rlz=1C1PRFE_enSE564SE564&espv=2&biw=1920&bih=979&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=PT0QVJiwKujOygP7nYD4DQ&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ

I would recommend getting a different cut and changing your glasses. The photo where you looked the most like a guy was in the last one, likely due to the more serious demeanor in it. Straight hair helps too, mostly because I think your hairstyle in the last picture is more male-looking than the other two. You could probably pass in the first haircut when you've been on T for a while but atm no.

Thanks for the feedback, but I honestly didn't need to hear that comparison :'(

I don't see the comparison mate, apart from you both wear glasses.

Honestly bro, the one with straight hair is the way to go....

I don't see the comparison too much either. Anyway, Adrian, I agree that the first pic you had up looked more feminine. It was possibly the hair, but honestly what really read the wrong gender to me was the jacket. It tucks in a bit and the lines on it only accentuate that and gives the impression of more female body lines whether they're actually there or not. On the contrary I thought your lower half passed (though in all fairness I didn't try blocking out the jacket part, just the entire upper half).

I too thought you looked good both with the curly and the straight hairstyles -- I don't know if you had product on in either pic or if it were just wet but that might help as well.
  •

adrian

Thanks Noah - the more "curly" was just letting it dry in the sun, no product for either style (I have too many allergies for that). I'll settle for the straight hair for the time being, making the sides shorter.
I mean I know I don't pass like this, but I really don't want to make things worse by emphasizing the wrong cues. I'll examine the hoodie/jacket critically :D.

JJones

Yea im with Noah. I think the hoody does you no favors in the first picture, i think without that you'd pass a lot easier dude.

Noah G.

Is it artificial things or fragrances in hair products that you're allergic to? Just out of curiosity. I know there's some all natural products (even for men, though I know there's arguments that they're not any different between the sexes at the same time it can be a little esteem boost regardless). Just wondering if there's something that might work for you because I think using product (if possible) could help.

Though, either way, yea cleaning up the back and sides and having it longer on top will help a lot. While not inherently a female thing, whispy hair on the sides could give the wrong cue to people.

As far as the jacket goes, a couple things you could try such as not zipping them up all the way (unless bitterly cold, in which case consider a good scarf either first or in addition to) would probably help you out. If there's lines on them, whether different colors or sewn like that one, try more horizontal lines or if they are in a v-pattern then something more angular. They're illusional tricks to broaden or give the impression of a more v-shape to the body. You're a thin guy so tricks like that could well help people lean more toward masculine than feminine when looking at you.

Also, avoid shirts or jackets that seem to tuck in at the waist (in the middle). That's a general rule of thumb for most FTMs.

Just some things to play with and see if they work for you.

Thanks guys! The hoodie is a remnant from when I still succumbed to the illusion I was "androgynous" at most. I'm slowly replacing items in my wardrobe now. More often than not with plain black things, but I'll experiment with other stuff. I'm also determined to put on weight. I've never been big, but I lost more weight over the last two years because of food intolerances. Getting better, so I'm hoping to be able to start working out again soon.

I have issues with fragrances in general, my nose shuts and eyes start watering immediately. I suspect a mild form of multiple chemical sensitivity, although things have improved a lot. But when I use commercial hair products, I also get really bad skin. I make my own pomade with beeswax and Shea butter, but it doesn't work too well.

Again, thanks guys, I really appreciate your help.

Well, I didn't mean it as a negative thing. Just that I wanted to see how your appearances, esp. in the first two pictures, look like her and to observe that she is read as female even though she may otherwise give off a lot of male cues. (Also, she's badass so don't take it as a bad thing.)

@Ryan55, youre looking good man. Im yet to start T, but hoping i will be able to by the end of the year, trans services in my area have such a long waiting time for appointments/ in between appointments. But if it works half as well for me as it does you, il be buzzing.
