Hi everyone,

I had my chest surgery nearly 16 weeks ago now. Everything went fine with no complications and it's all healing very well. But......just tonight both my nipples have become a little red and inflamed. Not badly and both are exactly the same, so I don't think it's anything external (dirt or something or an infection) but just part of healing maybe. It's made things feel more tight if I lift my arms as it's pulling on them.

Anyone experience this? Any ideas why it's happened? My partner has a cold and I was sat next to someone else today with a cold. If you get ill can it affect healing and the nipples?

I'm not panicking (much) but am a little concerned in case they get worse. It's not done this before at all!

Thoughts much appreciated.

It might be no problem, but I would contact the surgeon since I think it is a bit out of the ordinary.

I have woken up this morning and it looks pretty back to normal now, so I think I'll just keep an eye out. I think it was probably more likely to have been something just with my body in general feeling low or tired (had had a long day with not a lot of sleep) than anything with the nipples themselves.

How's your chest doing now?

Scars aren't quite as light, but very nice.
Perhaps I'll post an update at 1 year. (Two months)

Ah that's great. Will look forward to an update

I'm close to 4 months now and I think my scars are doing pretty well considering. Some bits right at the ends are turning white, but some of the middle bits are just starting to raise up a little. I thought I'd escaped it....lol Scar guard works a treat though.

I have good range of movement, although it seems to have slowed down a little on that front now. I wish it would hurry up as I horse ride, and although I'm back riding and it's fine I am so worried that I will end up yanking it if I fall and my arms gets pulled. I show jump, so right now am only jumping tiny mega safe fences

Here's a pic of mine, this was at 14.5 weeks, so around a week ago.

As I was reading your first couple of posts, I was trying to remember who your surgeon was.  Then when I saw the picture I thought, wow, great chest...that must be a clone!  And then I saw his name in your sig!     Damn, that man is the best.

Yes, Dr G is the man. I really can't believe how he does such a great job, and always so consistently. Proud to be a clone

Of course the pic is taken at just the right angle with the light in the right place and cutting out the fatty bits, it's amazing how a well caught angle can make you look a million times better than you actually do!! :p

Perhaps, but impressive of you to admit it!

Speaking of chests and such, how about giving everyone an update in the Top Recovery Thread?  Also, please include information on any products you may be using to reduce scarring.  People tend to look for that information a lot.  Also, if you have been working out and when you started after surgery.  Thank you, brother clone!

I didn't know there was such a thread, yes I will do that as soon as I get time to do it properly
