This is pretty on par with "well we were just following orders" like when does someone start to question what they are told/taught and wonder if it's really the right thing to do/way to interact with others.

There are actually some things I agree with as far as my mom and her beliefs go.

Hey before any moderators freak out, and if I may borrow your post Robin Hood...

Brandon, because of the way I was raised, I don't really like when girls wear short shorts/skirts and tiny tops but I generally don't ever say it in public. They can dress the way they want to, because they're not there for my sole viewing pleasure. Sometimes, a little tact goes a long way at keeping you out of trouble.

I don't either thats how I was raised also but I get what your saying.

I was actually about to say something similar to that, Frank!  :D

I feel similarly about people who oppose same-sex marriages. I feel that being against it is wrong, but so long as they aren't trying to prevent other people from having same-sex marriages, they can believe whatever they want. Basically, if you're against something, then fine - don't do it. But it's pretty impolite to.. well, basically force those beliefs on someone else.

Ok, and no one said you couldn't agree with her on her beliefs.  That's not what the point I was making was.  The point was, how much of the things you personally believe, especially surrounding what men and women should and shouldn't do, do you actually believe because you think it's right vs what do you believe because others have ingrained it in you.

No I believe it because thats how I think God intended some things it has nothing to do with my family, Know I do agree with some things my family believes in yes others not so much, I am not going to argue with you though.

Hold up - where in the Bible does it say men must dress masculinely and women femininely?  I've never heard that before.

Well if you want to get religious with it, what you, I, and everyone else on this board are doing is, according to some people, not how God intended.

I know you don't think you sound narrow-minded, but continually telling others that what they do (say wearing women's clothes if they are men) or want to do is weird, over and over again comes off as very narrow-minded.

And if you really wanna get technical and religious it says nothing in the bible about being trans it only says something about homosexuality. I read the bible and know that for a fact. And if you have never seen something or wirnessed it of course to some it might be weird.

Its called reading between the lines, And yes were it talks about homosexuality it does state a man should not be feminine, but this is not a religious topic at all I am trying to keep it civilized before the mods step in.

Just keep in mind that man wrote the Bible with their own interpretations of God's word and that a lot of meaning has been lost through all the translations the Bible has gone through.  You should try watching Fish Out of Water.  It's a really interesting documentary and talks a lot about the meaning of the passages about homosexuality having been lost through translation.

I am stepping in. Enough already.

Anymore of this and I shall lock and think about moderation levels again.

I know that but thoes were in fact Gods deciples. This isn't a religious topic so why are you going on about it?? All I said was I believe God did intend for certain things thats all.

Alright, alright - let's not start a fight about religion. We all know that never goes well. Beliefs vary, even between Christians.

But the point is, Brandon, you should probably keep those beliefs (the one about how men and women should act) to yourself. If you don't think men should dress femininely, then don't dress femininely. Just don't go around telling guys who do dress femininely that they shouldn't. Even if you're not exactly telling them what to do ("Don't do that, do THIS!"), you are putting unneeded pressure there when you state "I think men should dress masculinely because that's what men are supposed to do".

I'm sure you've heard the saying "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all", and I think that applies here especially.  :)
