I have my letter and an appointment to start HRT next month.
I do not plan to go total SRS.
I've read tons of topics about the changes in breast and nipples but rarely are the areolas mentioned.
Do they grow and is there any color change or do you primarily keep what you got?
This is a very important desire for me with HRT, even more so than B cups.

Mine have been changing and they are looking more and more like the ones I have seen on cisgender women.

Just as with cis women, for some it does, for some it doesn't. Generally you should expect some change regardless.

thanks for the replies.

Girls, the "girls" need your opinion.

Mine got really big and look cis-female normal. The're not dark colored though. Seems I need to get pregnant for that. Hmm...

I believe the darkening is caused by some hormone - I wonder if there's a pill for that.

As Ms. Grace says, it varies, and just like with cis girls, you get what you get.

My areolae are about 3X the size they were when I started 5 years ago, and darkened a bit, from brownish pink to light brown. I've heard that's more or less normal. (Of course, not all cis women who get pregnant have permanent color change either, and not all cis women *need* to get pregnant to have the color change at all.) It's also variable what size they'll be relative to the size of the breast - my wife has huge breasts, so her areolae are proportionally much smaller than mine, for example. Some women have big breasts and small nipples/areolae, some small breasts with large areolae, etc. But HRT should do *something* for you in that regard.

HRT didn't do much for my nipples, but when I got my boob job.  Full on silver dollars.

Mine look like a cis woman's .. My areoles doubled in size and my nipples swelled.i have d cup breasts and my areoles are small compared to my breast, but they look natural and like a woman's.

But woman's nipple area are all different.. You should at least get some growth and swelling of your nipples
Enjoying ride the hormones are giving me... finally becoming the woman I always knew I was

As your breast tissue grows you should notice a change in size, but it takes time

My areola have doubled in size and darkened a bit after 6 months on E. My nipples enlarged considerably and have become very perky and sore all the time and are starting to itch.

Hi Arienna;
I have been on low dose HRT for a little under 20 months and I am now a very nice B Cup although my breasts are quite perky with very firm and extended nipples. I cannot wear a tight T Shirt now without a bra as my nipples are too obvious.,  When I get up in the morning and take my nightdress off or have a hot shower my areoles are about the size of an Australia 20c piece, which is about 3 times what they were before I started HRT, my colour has also changed from a soft pink colour to more of a mid colour brown. My nipples though are a very firm and nice red (can be sore though!)

I have lactated before and when I transitioned once before I used a Medela Breast Pump for about 5 months and that really helped in developing the breast milk ducts and in helping the growth of the nipples. I would certainly recommend  assisted lactation, but be warned that you breasts after a regular daily expression of milk will get quite large and full and this will help the overall growth. I actually stopped my transition some 20 years ago and over time, my breasts reduced in size, but never disappeared completely (they reverted to a largish A Cup.  I have however always passed the pencil test.

The important thing is that you breasts take time to grow, but if you want lactation can definitely help, but be warned it can be messy and you really need a partner to help you express your milk.
