So ive been just wet shaving for the last 10 years. Hot water only and using a gillette fusion on my face. Never got a very close shave.. But i have had a young looking face. A little shadow usualy helped me look older than 16 lol... Anyways.. Now i want this shadow gone for a few hours a day at least so i can have "girl time". I started using a shaving cream and got a very close shave. I want to put mu makup on after.. But my face keeps burning like hell for about an hour. And after its done burning.. My face feels like leather. Really tight. Theres not much redness. And i can only shave like this every 2 days. If i do it every day i start getting bumps.
I first scrub my face using hot water. The. Hold a hot wet rag on on my skin for a few mins. As soon as i remove the rag i have shaving cream rdy in my hand and apply it quickly. I shave with the grain lightly, then against the grain a little more aggressively but still lightly. I dont use an aftershave (dont knownwhat its for. Also dont use moisturizers. Dont know what to use. Any help would be great. Thanks

I use a hydrating hair conditioner instead of shaving cream. My skin thanks me, a lot!  :)

I've always done a wet shave with the gillette fusion myself.  Personally I use moisturiser and an aftershave once I'm done, but no shaving cream (just regular old water).  I too shave with the grain, then against it on a second pass.  By the sounds of it your skin might not like the shaving cream you're using - does it have any alcohol in it by chance?  That's usually what causes that in my experience that's why I stopped using them lol :P

Moisturiser is great for calming the skin down from general razor burn.  Look for ones that say they're for sensitive skin (which it sounds like you have).

Also, for a more permanent solution, I personally intend to get hold of a Tria (laser hair removal) sometime soon.  It's expensive, but a lot of the girls around here recommend it highly, so if you want to get away from shaving altogether, this may be something worth checking out :)
