Hey Ive been running over this is my head a lot lately and didn't want to piggyback on the other thread so here goes. My birth name is Georgia. So my family wants me to keep George as a middle name. But I'm thinking about James or Dean. Kameron James 'blank'mer, Kameron Dean 'blank'mer, or Kameron George 'blank'mer. (My last name is two syllables ending in 'mer.') Any opinions?

Personally, I think Dean flows the best.  :) But you should pick whichever you feel the strongest connection to.

And if you don't feel particularly connected to any of the above, well, there's no time limit, is there? You could take as much time as you need to find a name you really like. Finding a name you really like is worth the extra wait, imo.

I haveta say that I like the first two but not the third. I tend to like James more than Dean, but Kameron Dean sounds kinda cool. But I think that it all depends on your last name and your own personal preference.

Haha, I almost didn't reply to your post because advising someone who has the same(ish) name as me on names feels like some wacky ouroboros ->-bleeped-<-. But anyway.

Honestly, they all sounds good, so I don't think one has a stronger pull aesthetically. Idk, I go back and forth on this kind of thing too, so I feel you. Part of me thinks that getting to pick your whole name is almost like cheating, but then the other, smarter half of my brain is like "NAH, son, this is your chance." And I can't lie, James and Dean are pretty cool names.

You could do the double middle name thing? Kameron George James is a little too much, but imo Kameron George Dean sounds kind of swell. Kameron Dean George, too. That said, if me telling you this bums you out, then screw it, trust your heart and use James.

Contravene

Have you considered using Kameron as the middle name? I like James as a middle name but George sounds more fitting for a first name and Dean seems like it could go either way. But maybe that's just me.

Kameron James
Kameron Dean
Dean Kameron
George Kameron

Thank you everyone for the input! I thought about having George as my legal first name and then just going by Kameron, but I hate seeing my name now, so I thought having so much if it first on my license would get to me. I don't know how to tell my family I don't want to use it. They can still call me George if they want. But I don't think I want to use it legally.. Ugh. How do I tell my mother that? I think I like James the best. Kameron James. There's so much legal stuff I'm having to deal with right now before I can even get this dealt with. But I want to have it decided on well in advance.

James is my favorite middle name ever. It flows with almost everything.

What about Kameron George James? Some people have two middle names...

I'm also letting my family still call me old nicknames, but definitely planning to get rid of them in terms of legal name changes.

You don't have to tell your mother that you won't be keeping your name as a middle name... Most things only call for first and last names. Even if you are getting your mail at her place or (insert situation here), you can sign up for things with just first and last name to avoid anyone finding out what you're using. But if you're going the open and honest route, it seems to me that coming out as not-specifically-being-George might actually be a smaller deal than coming out as trans. Even considering family sentimental value.

Hi, Jill here jumping the fence once again.

Middle names are tough.  So many possibilities, but only one (or two? hey, the Brits do this all the time) can be chosen.  Screw what you think anyone else might want.  What name makes your brain light up in the happiest way when you hear it spoken?  This is someting you will live with forever.

This being said, I do like the names James, Dean and George.  Those are classics that will never go out of style.  My suggestion is to make the biggest list you can compile over 15 minutes.  If it takes longer to find one... No.   Wrong ones get weeded out pretty fast.

Betcha the first one you liked best is right.

I like Dean!

Kameron Dean..I dig it.

I actually just recently decided on James as my first name (pretty sure). I've been trying it out with my friends for about a week.
So yeah, obviously I like that one too. Lol.

Maybe I'm partial to Kameron Dean because my birth first and middle names start with K and D ha

I actually chose my BFF's as my middle name, Alexis Summer.  I didn't want to sit around thinking about it, and why not pick your BFF? :)

It sounds like you might have answered your own question since you like James, but I also really like the sound of Kameron Dean. It sounds crisp and clean.
