I'm 3 and half weeks post op and I'm a getting little worried and frustrated with my nipples/areolas. I've used up both packets of the Xeroform gauze dressings I was given and even went on to buy another packet. My areolas are very light and flat and dont seem to have a definite outline (shape). Are you supposed to stop dressing the nipples/areolas at 3/4 weeks or do you stop when they actually look normal (normal in colour and shape)? I'm still seeing a little blood too, I kind of feel like they are never going to heal 

I stopped at exactly three weeks. I still had some pinkish blood and scabbing when I stopped the dressings. After I just used band aids and neosporin. I just followed my surgeons (Dr. G) care instructions and my nips turned out fine. If you're really worried, call the doctors office. I did and I was told to just cease xeroform use at 21 days after post op. They really will heal, It just seems like it takes a while.

I had what seemed like no end of trouble with mine.  Bloody, oozing holes for 5 weeks.  So don't worry too much.  Just keep dressing them until they aren't bleeding/scabbing.  Are you using that silver dressing that I suggested?

Alright, so I'll stop using the Xeroform tomorrow then and try to stop worrying so early! Thanks for your help!

The bandaids I'm using at the moment have silver on the part that is supposed to touch the wound. Were these the ones you were talking about? I'm also using the micropore tape and it's going really well so far
