This is my 2nd post ever in any venue on me as Jen.  Reading posts of how Susan and her staff work hard to keep this a safe haven is comforting.  But Jen still doesn't go out in public, at least not yet.  Nobody knows I am doing HRT.

It seems my HRT has been pretty typical.  Knowing what to expect from this forum and others has been helpful.

I am also on T-blockers.  I think initially the dosage was too high.  I was tired all the time, lost a lot of muscle mass/strength, and hadn't seen any of the positive (female) changes.  The fact that I cut, split, and stacked 4 cords of wood at this underscored the reduced strength and stamina.  I even had several dizzy spells, but concluded it was because I was dehydrated too.  The T-blocker dosage was reduced and it helped while still achieving the desired results.  I am now drinking more fluids and have more energy.

If I had to do it over again, I would probably want to try HRT without the T-blocker in the hopes my strength and stamina would be maintained without inhibing breast development and other feminization changes.

The good aspects of reduced musculature is that my arms and legs have a much more trim, feminine appearance.  My waist has gotten smaller (probably due to muscle reduction) and my hips and outer thigh wider due to small but noticable fat increases (c 1/4", 4 mm).  My fingers are also slightly smaller.

I have also become more flexible and can now cross my legs like a lady.  Unprompted, my son commented on how my face looked thinner.  That was encouraging.

I find that measurements to track bust, waist, hip changes have been useless.  What has worked for me is how specific clothing used to fit, and how it now fits.  For example, am I closer to filling out this bra?  Or that cute fitted skirt, I used to be able to easily pull it over my hips, but the zipper was difficult to close.  But now it is difficult to get over my hips and the zipper closes easily.

My nipple changes have been curious.  My left nipple errupted within a week (wow!).  My right one took more like 4-5 weeks.  The diameter of my areolas have fluctuated from about 1.2 to 1.6 times the original diameter, even now.  Nipple pain has also fluctuated.  Mostly it's pretty mild but constant.  Other times (especially the left) more so when it accidentally gets smacked or bumped causes an intense reminder of what is going on.

Question:  Is this typical, the areola fluctuation and inconsistent nipple pain?  Also, do transitioning girls feel any pain or tenderness in their breast tissue, or just the nipple area?  If there is general breast tenderness, when does it start?

Reduction in size of my penis and testes are quite noticable, with no more erections and an 80-85% reduction in libido, and a marked increase in difficulty to orgasm.  Orgasms are still intense, but different.

I have not seen any changes in my hair (or lack of).

Hopefully this is not TMI and helpful to some.

First, congrats!!  :)

That has been my experience also.

Also, do transitioning girls feel any pain or tenderness in their breast tissue, or just the nipple area?

Mine started in the nipples, but did progress to the tissue.

If there is general breast tenderness, when does it start?

Different for everyone really. Mine about two months after the nipples started up.

Thanks, Jessica.  Good to know.

Pain around nipple/areola comes and goes, same with breast tenderness.
I am not a medical doctor, nor a scientist - opinions expressed by me on the subject of HRT are merely based on my own review of some of the scientific literature over the last decade or so, on anecdotal evidence from women in various discussion forums that I have come across, and my personal experience

Post-op since late 2005

Congrats on your two months! Pain around my nipple comes and goes too. So far I've had no breast tissue tenderness.

Congratulations Jen, rest assured your in safe hands, Susans staff are great.

For me pain around the nipple has subsided a bit as of two weeks ago, there's only pain if I press on the nipple. Tenderness in the breast tissue has also subsided, no more unfortunate knocks resulting in "ouch"!

Alena - How long have you been on HRT?  This might give me an idea when I might expect the breast tenderness.

BreezyB - At what point in your HRT (weeks or months) did your breast tenderness start and subside?

Girls, thanks for responding!

It started quite early which really surprised me, I wasn't expecting it for months. I had breast buds forming at the start of week 3, this is when tenderness started. About a week later I started to get more fat built up around the bud, which again I wasn't expecting, I thought this happened last. The tenderness lasted from week 3 through to around two weeks ago. There's still tenderness, but nothing like before. If I knocked them on a table (no, their not that big lol) it would really make me jump, a sharp pain. Now it feels like there's more padding around the breast bud and its filling out which feels like it's cushioning the ouchy feeling I had whenever I knocked them. But as I understand it's different for everyone, but if it does start early for you, don't be surprised, it did for me

BreezyB,

It sounds like you started developing quite quickly!  I've got a bit to go but I'm looking forward to every "ouch".  Thanks for the insight as to when I can look forward to that.

Hi Jen, I'm about 3 months into HRT. I've had breast buds for over a month now, my nipples were more prominent after about 2 weeks. They hurt from time to time and I have to be more careful when take a shower! I hopethey grow to a C cup  ;)

A good post, I have not started HRT yet but will be pretty soon.  I have estrogen, higher than norm for males, already in my body, naturally, so I have small sized breasts (not man boobs, real breasts/nipples/etc) so I am really curious as to what the added estrogen and T blockers are going to do for me.  After two months you're already having small subtle changes that sounds great.

Hi Jen, I am at 3 1/2 months and the tingly, sort of well I dont think I have a word for it but its kind of a warm, slightly itchy feeling started at around 60 days.  The bud swelling developed at about the same time.  Between then and probably 80 I kept noticing a slight change in size but when I looked through rational rather than hopeful eyes they were just slightly mounded but with pretty large nipple formation.  About two weeks ago they kind of went on a full tilt growth thing and are now more than can fit in my hands.  They do not completely fill a B cup yet but at this rate it wont be too far in the future.  Funny story, I ordered a really pretty cutout back bra from Victoria's Secret, a 38 B (38 being half inch larger than my actual measurement). When it arrived I found out 38 was too too small so I went online only to find that their 40 starts in a 'c'.  Well now that is what is hanging on the hook in the bedroom now, a sort of boobie version of the carrort leading the horse.  Hopefully they will take the bait. ;)    Dani
