Recently got my blood work back and my doctor said my estrogen was more than double that of a normal woman of childbearing age.  Neither of us is sure how it happened, because I'm on the recommended dosage and have been for 11 months without issue.  He reduced it slightly (which frightened me, but I don't want blood clots either).

I'm wondering - anybody else have this experience and what did you go through physically/emotionally?  What did it take to get your levels back to the desired level?

I had already noticed heightened anxiety and emotional crying jags increasing, but I don't know if these are endocrine related or situational.

The levels of a normal woman of childbearing age VARY in time, during her menstrual cycle, from under 20-25 pg/ml to up to 640 pg/ml, if you consult different lab ranges. Her levels skyrocket during pregnancy, from close to 1,000 to up to 75,000! Anywhere in that range would be a level that a normal woman of childbearing age would be susceptible to experience.

On a personal note, my levels are close to 4,000 on day 3 after the injection. My doctors (family doctor and endocrinologist) see no problem with this.

He reduced it slightly (which frightened me, but I don't want blood clots either).

Levels in the 400-700 pg/ml range were noted in prostate cancer patients on bio-identical estrogen given either transdermally or by injection. No increase in clotting was noted nor did any cardiovascular complications. Women get pregnant left and right with VERY high levels of estrogen and their risk of clotting increases much more significantly in the days/weeks that follow pregnancy when levels of estrogen plummet and are VERY low, as noted by several studies.

In my doctor's and my opinion, desired is the dose that gives me well-being and good feminization results (i.e. breast growth, body hair growth, facial shape, fat distribution, skin texture, libido, etc). Individuals vary in how much they may need depending on a host of factors including genetic, age, etc.

These usually tend to occur when estrogen levels drop but not necessarily. You need to share your concerns with your doctor and relate this info, if you wish, to your doctor. He/she is the one who makes the final decision. I am NOT a doctor, just a fellow sister sharing some info I've come across the years. :)
I am not a medical doctor, nor a scientist - opinions expressed by me on the subject of HRT are merely based on my own review of some of the scientific literature over the last decade or so, on anecdotal evidence from women in various discussion forums that I have come across, and my personal experience

On HRT since early 2004
Post-op since late 2005

Hmmmm....thanks for all the responses, I really appreciate it.  My level was 770 the time before this and 808 this time.  It's possible my E-levels were high to start, but I was only on 2 pills a day which is the normal dosage for pre-op I think?!  Very confusing.  I think I may go to an endo for more detailed info.  Still crying like crazy and though I'm in tough external circumstances I feel like it's out of proportion.
